Market Dynamics
Israel's amorphous polyethylene terephthalate (APET) market is an established and mature market. The major driver behind the market growth is the increased demand for PET resins in industries such as food packaging and beverage containerings. Due to the growing demand for convenience food, many companies in Israel are switching to PET packaging solutions. Additionally, the government in Israel has launched many incentives and regulations to encourage the expansion of the PET industry. Furthermore, the growing number of pet food production plants and the increased demand from end-use industries such as consumer goods, automotive and pharmaceuticals, have further fueled the growth of the country's APET market. In terms of production, Israel is the second-largest consumer of PET, accounting for around 30% of total global production. Major producers of APET in Israel include Plastiva, Chairman Industries, Sela Moplast and Ofer Plastics. Exports of APET from Israel have also been growing steadily in recent years. During 2018 and 2019, Israel's exports of PET resins increased by 22.2%, accounting for over half of its total exports. This is partially due to increased demand for PET resins from markets such as the US, Europe and China.
Furthermore, to increase efficiency, PET products are now being produced using recycled materials in Israel, thus reducing their dependence on petroleum-derived raw materials. This trend has become popular among Israeli businesses, as it can reduce production costs and lead to more environmentally-friendly packaging solutions. The outlook for Israel's APET market remains positive. In particular, demand for PET packaging solutions is expected to remain strong, driven by increasing demand from end-use industries. This is in part due to the shift towards convenience food and the need for lightweight and strong packaging materials. Additionally, with growing emphasis on environmental sustainability, PET producers are actively looking into options such as PET recycling. This should help the APET industry remain competitive and grow over the forecast period from 2018-2032.
