Market Overview
The global clopidol market was valued at USD 189.74 million in 2025 and is projected to reach USD 268.50 million by 2032, registering a CAGR of 5.08% during 2026–2032. The market has expanded steadily from USD 163.45 million in 2022, and the forecast period adds an absolute value of USD 78.77 million between 2025 and 2032.
Clopidol (3,5-dichloro-2,6-dimethyl-4-pyridinol; CAS 2971-90-6), also known as meticlorpindol, is a synthetic, non-ionophore anticoccidial of the pyridinol class. It is administered in feed, most commonly as a 25% premix, to prevent coccidiosis caused by Eimeria species in broiler chickens and replacement pullets, and in some jurisdictions to prevent leucocytozoonosis in turkeys. Demand is tied directly to the volume of commercially raised poultry, to the prevalence of coccidiosis in intensive production systems, and to the role that chemical anticoccidials play in shuttle and rotation programmes designed to slow the development of parasite resistance.
Growth over the forecast period is supported by rising global poultry meat output, the continued use of chemical (non-antibiotic) coccidiostats in production programmes that restrict the use of ionophores, and the expansion of integrated poultry operations in Asia Pacific, Latin America and the Middle East. The 2024 evaluation of clopidol by the Joint FAO/WHO Expert Committee on Food Additives (JECFA) and the subsequent adoption of Codex maximum residue limits (MRLs) for chicken tissues have also improved the international regulatory reference base for the compound.
Key Findings
By livestock: Broilers was the largest segment in 2025, accounting for 75.00% of global revenue (USD 142.30 million). Layers & Breeders is the fastest-growing segment, with a CAGR of 5.71% during 2026–2032.
By physical form: Premix led the market with a 80.00% share in 2025 (USD 151.79 million) and is also the fastest-growing form, at a CAGR of 5.50%.
By region: Asia Pacific was the leading region in 2025, with USD 79.69 million and a 42.00% share. Middle East & Africa is the fastest-growing region, with a CAGR of 6.14%.
By country: China was the largest national market in 2025 at USD 35.86 million. UAE is the fastest-growing country, with a CAGR of 7.20%, closely followed by India at 7.19%.
Segmentation Summary
The market is segmented by livestock into Broilers, Layers & Breeders, and Cattle & Others. Broilers account for 75.00% of 2025 revenue, reflecting the fact that clopidol is approved primarily for broiler chickens and is used through the grow-out period, typically with a short withdrawal before slaughter. Layers & Breeders (10.00%) relates to use in replacement pullets during rearing, before the onset of lay. Cattle & Others (15.00%) covers turkeys, rabbits, ruminants and other species in markets where national rules allow such use.
By physical form, the market is divided into Premix and Others. Premix, mainly 25% clopidol premixes and Type A medicated articles incorporated by feed mills, represents 80.00% of the 2025 market. The Others category (20.00%) includes technical-grade active ingredient sold to formulators, combination products and other dosage presentations.
Competitive Landscape Summary
The clopidol market is moderately consolidated at the level of branded, regulator-approved products and fragmented at the level of active ingredient supply. Huvepharma holds the established Coyden brand and its approvals in the United States, Canada and Mexico, and is the reference sponsor for clopidol under the US Code of Federal Regulations. Phibro Animal Health participates as a co-sponsor of an approved clopidol and bacitracin zinc combination for broilers. Active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) and premix supply is concentrated in China, where companies such as Jiangsu Tianhe Pharmaceutical, Zhejiang Rongyao Biotech, Shandong Luxi Animal Medicine, Guangzhou Haicheng Pharmaceutical, Qingdao Qingmei Biotech and Nantong Daniorio Bio supply technical-grade clopidol and 25% premixes to domestic and export markets. Competition is driven by regulatory approvals, manufacturing quality (GMP compliance and regulatory master files), cost of production and the strength of distribution relationships with feed mills and integrated poultry producers.
Challenges and Opportunities
The principal challenges are the development of Eimeria resistance to clopidol when it is used continuously, the absence of a current EU feed-additive authorisation following the withdrawal of meticlorpindol under Commission Regulation (EC) No 2205/2001, residue-compliance requirements in export-oriented poultry sectors, and the growing use of coccidiosis vaccines in broiler and breeder flocks. Price competition among Chinese API producers also compresses margins.
Opportunities arise from the adoption of Codex MRLs for clopidol in chicken tissues in 2024, which provides a harmonised residue reference for exporting and importing countries; from rotation and shuttle programmes that position chemical anticoccidials alongside ionophores and vaccines; from the expansion of commercial broiler production in India, Southeast Asia, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, Africa and Latin America; and from production systems that limit the use of medically important or ionophore antimicrobials but allow chemical coccidiostats.
Future Outlook
Between 2025 and 2032, the global clopidol market is expected to add USD 78.77 million in value. Asia Pacific will remain the largest regional market, rising from USD 79.69 million in 2025 to USD 116.78 million in 2032, while Middle East & Africa (6.14%) and Latin America (5.50%) will grow faster than the global average. North America (3.60%) and Europe (4.24%) are expected to grow more slowly, reflecting mature poultry sectors and stricter regulatory frameworks. Over the forecast period, suppliers that combine regulatory approvals, reliable GMP-compliant API supply and technical support for anticoccidial programme design are expected to strengthen their positions.
The Clopidol Market market is projected to grow at a CAGR of 5.1% from 2022 to 2032.

Clopidol is a synthetic pyridinol anticoccidial with the chemical name 3,5-dichloro-2,6-dimethyl-4-pyridinol (molecular formula C7H7Cl2NO; molecular weight 192.04 g/mol; CAS 2971-90-6). It is classified under ATCvet code QP51BX05 and is also known by the international non-proprietary name meticlorpindol. Clopidol acts mainly on the early developmental stages of Eimeria, inhibiting the development of sporozoites and trophozoites, and is therefore used prophylactically rather than for the treatment of clinical outbreaks. It is manufactured through a multistep chemical synthesis that starts from dehydroacetic acid.
For the purpose of this study, the clopidol market is defined as the revenue generated from the sale of clopidol-based products for use in animal production, measured at manufacturer and first-tier supplier level. The market includes:
Clopidol premixes (principally 25% premixes and Type A medicated articles) incorporated into compound feed by feed mills and integrated producers.
Technical-grade clopidol active ingredient sold to premix manufacturers and feed formulators.
Approved combinations in which clopidol is the anticoccidial component, such as clopidol with bacitracin or bambermycins in markets where these are authorised.
Other presentations of clopidol for veterinary use in poultry, turkeys, rabbits, ruminants and other livestock, where national regulations permit.
The market excludes:
Other anticoccidials, including ionophores (monensin, salinomycin, narasin, lasalocid, maduramicin, semduramicin) and other chemical coccidiostats (nicarbazin, diclazuril, decoquinate, robenidine, amprolium, toltrazuril), except where clopidol is the active anticoccidial component.
Coccidiosis vaccines, phytogenic feed additives and other non-pharmaceutical coccidiosis control products.
Clopidogrel, the human antiplatelet drug, which is a different compound despite the similar name.
Analytical reference standards and laboratory-grade clopidol sold for research and residue testing.

View Subscription PlansOverview of the Research Process
The study followed a structured research process combining secondary research, primary research and quantitative modelling. The process moved through five stages: (1) definition of the market scope and segmentation; (2) collection of secondary data on poultry and livestock production, feed output, anticoccidial usage, regulatory approvals and company activity; (3) primary research with participants across the clopidol supply and demand chain to validate assumptions and fill information gaps; (4) estimation of market size using top-down and bottom-up approaches, followed by data triangulation; and (5) forecasting for 2026–2032 and internal quality review of all figures and narrative.
Because clopidol is a niche anticoccidial used within broader coccidiosis control programmes, the methodology placed particular emphasis on understanding the share of anticoccidial programmes allocated to chemical coccidiostats, the inclusion rates used in feed, and the duration of use within each production cycle.
Secondary Research
Secondary research was used to build the analytical foundation of the study. Sources relevant to the clopidol and anticoccidial industry included:
Government and regulatory bodies: the US Food and Drug Administration (21 CFR Parts 556 and 558), the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and Health Canada, the European Commission and the EU Reference Laboratory for Feed Additives, China's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, India's Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation and Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, and Brazil's Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock.
International organisations: the Joint FAO/WHO Expert Committee on Food Additives (JECFA), the Codex Alimentarius Commission and its Committee on Residues of Veterinary Drugs in Foods, and the World Organisation for Animal Health.
Agricultural statistics: USDA Foreign Agricultural Service poultry production and trade data, FAO statistical databases, and national poultry and feed industry statistics.
Industry associations: poultry producer and feed manufacturer associations, animal health industry associations, and national veterinary associations.
Company sources: annual reports, regulatory filings, product labels, press releases and investor presentations of animal health companies, API manufacturers and premix producers.
Trade and scientific literature: poultry and feed industry journals, peer-reviewed research on anticoccidial efficacy, resistance and residue depletion, and conference proceedings.
Paid databases: trade statistics, company databases and veterinary drug registration databases.
Primary Research
Primary research was conducted to validate secondary findings, refine the segmentation split and obtain qualitative insight into market trends. Interviews were carried out with participants on both the supply and demand sides of the market.
Supply side: product and business development managers at animal health companies, API manufacturers, premix producers, regulatory affairs specialists and distributors of feed additives.
Demand side: feed mill nutritionists and procurement managers, poultry veterinarians, technical managers at integrated broiler and breeder operations, and consultants specialising in poultry health.
The objectives of primary research were to verify pricing and volume assumptions, understand how clopidol is positioned within shuttle and rotation programmes, assess the relative share of each livestock and physical form segment, identify regional differences in regulatory status and adoption, and gather views on the growth outlook and competitive dynamics.
Market Size Estimation
Top-down approach: The overall market was derived from the global anticoccidial market and narrowed to clopidol by estimating the share of chemical coccidiostats in anticoccidial use and the share of clopidol within that category, by region. Regional values were then allocated to countries and segments based on poultry and livestock production, feed output and regulatory status.
Bottom-up approach: Country-level demand was estimated from the number of birds and animals produced, the proportion of flocks fed clopidol during the year, typical inclusion rates (for example, 125 mg/kg of complete feed), feed consumption during the medicated period and average selling prices of premix and technical-grade clopidol. Country estimates were aggregated to regional and global totals.
Data triangulation: Results from the two approaches were compared and reconciled, and the resulting estimates were cross-checked against company information and primary research inputs. Where differences arose, assumptions were reviewed until the approaches converged within an acceptable range.
Forecasting Methodology
The forecast for 2026–2032 was developed using a combination of trend analysis and driver-based modelling. Factors considered included:
Projected poultry meat and egg production by country, and growth in commercial broiler and replacement pullet populations.
Compound feed production and the degree of feed industry integration.
Anticoccidial programme design, including the share of chemical coccidiostats, rotation frequency and the adoption of coccidiosis vaccines.
Regulatory developments affecting clopidol approvals, withdrawal periods and MRLs, as well as wider policies on antimicrobial use in animals.
Price trends for clopidol API and premix, including raw material costs and supply conditions in China.
Macroeconomic indicators such as GDP growth, population growth, urbanisation and per capita protein consumption.
Forecasts were reviewed with industry participants and adjusted where qualitative insights indicated a departure from historical trends.
Assumptions and Limitations
Market values are expressed in USD million at current prices; currency fluctuations are reflected at average annual exchange rates.
The regulatory status of clopidol in each country is assumed to remain broadly unchanged over the forecast period, except where developments are already known.
No major disruption in clopidol API supply from China is assumed, although price volatility is considered.
Outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza and other animal diseases are assumed to cause temporary, rather than structural, changes in poultry production.
Company-level sales of clopidol are rarely disclosed separately, so segment and regional estimates rely on modelling and primary research inputs.
Values for "Rest of" country groups are estimated in aggregate and may include countries with different regulatory and market conditions.

The global clopidol market has a two-tier competitive structure. The first tier consists of companies that hold regulatory approvals for branded clopidol products in regulated markets, most notably Huvepharma, which holds the Coyden approvals in the United States, Canada and Mexico and is the reference sponsor for clopidol under 21 CFR 558.175, and Phibro Animal Health, which is a co-sponsor of an approved clopidol and bacitracin zinc combination for broilers. In these markets, competition is limited by the cost and time required to obtain approvals and by established relationships with integrators and feed mills.
The second tier consists of active ingredient and premix manufacturers, most of which are based in China. These companies supply technical-grade clopidol and 25% premixes to domestic feed producers and to importers and formulators in Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa. This part of the market is fragmented, and competition is driven mainly by price, production scale, product purity, GMP compliance and the ability to support customer registrations with regulatory documentation. Overall, the market can be described as moderately consolidated in regulated markets and fragmented in generic markets. Competition also takes place at the level of complete coccidiosis control programmes, where companies with broad portfolios of ionophores, chemical coccidiostats and vaccines can offer integrated rotation solutions.
Key Player Positioning
Leaders. Huvepharma is the leading company in the branded clopidol segment. The Bulgarian, privately owned animal health and nutrition company operates 11 manufacturing plants in five countries, sells in more than 100 countries and reported revenue of EUR 588 million for FY2020, the most recent figure it has made public. It markets Coyden 25 in the United States, Canada and Mexico within a broad anticoccidial portfolio that includes ionophores and other chemical coccidiostats, and it can offer approved clopidol combinations with its own antibacterial feed additives. Phibro Animal Health (Nasdaq: PAHC; FY2025 net sales of USD 1,296.2 million, of which Animal Health accounted for USD 962.8 million) is a leading medicated feed additive company and an FDA co-sponsor of a clopidol and bacitracin zinc combination. Its acquisition of the Zoetis medicated feed additive portfolio in October 2024 further strengthened its position in anticoccidial programmes.
Challengers. Shandong Luxi Animal Medicine Share Co., Ltd. and Jiangsu Tianhe Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. are the main challengers. Shandong Luxi, founded in 1989, is a large Chinese veterinary drug manufacturer that supplies clopidol 25% premix and has passed repeated national veterinary GMP inspections as well as a Russian GMP audit. Jiangsu Tianhe Pharmaceutical holds a US Veterinary Master File for clopidol and has an FDA-listed clopidol bulk ingredient, which positions it as an API supplier to regulated markets. Zhejiang Rongyao Biotech Co., Ltd., which began as a feed additive factory in 1999, supplies clopidol API to domestic and export customers.
Niche players. Guangzhou Haicheng Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., Qingdao Qingmei Biotech Co., Ltd. and Nantong Daniorio Bio Co., Ltd. are niche participants that supply clopidol API and premix mainly through export channels and distributors. These companies compete primarily on price and flexibility, and their revenues are not publicly disclosed.
Competitor Dashboard
The competitor dashboard rates each profiled company on four parameters: product portfolio, regional presence, strategic alliances and industry experience. Ratings are qualitative analyst assessments.
Threat of New Entrants – Medium
The chemistry of clopidol is well established, and production technology is accessible to experienced chemical manufacturers, which lowers technical barriers to API production.
Regulatory approvals, product registrations and GMP requirements in major markets such as the United States and Canada create significant barriers to entry in branded premixes.
Established relationships between suppliers and integrators, and the need for field efficacy data, favour existing participants.
Bargaining Power of Suppliers – Medium
Key raw materials such as dehydroacetic acid are produced by a limited number of chemical companies, mostly in China.
Formulators that rely on a small number of qualified API sources have limited room to switch quickly, especially for regulated markets.
Multiple Chinese API producers compete on price, which partly offsets supplier power.
Bargaining Power of Buyers – High
Large integrators and feed mill groups buy anticoccidials in large volumes and negotiate on price.
Buyers can choose from many anticoccidials and vaccines, and rotation programmes make switching routine.
Generic clopidol premixes are widely available in many markets, increasing price transparency.
Threat of Substitutes – High
Ionophores, other chemical coccidiostats (such as nicarbazin, diclazuril, decoquinate and robenidine) and their combinations are direct substitutes.
Live coccidiosis vaccines are increasingly used in broilers, breeders and layers, removing the need for in-feed anticoccidials in those flocks.
Phytogenic and other non-pharmaceutical products are being adopted as supportive tools in antibiotic-free systems.
Intensity of Competitive Rivalry – Medium
Branded approvals in North America are held by a small number of companies, which limits rivalry in those markets.
In Asia, Latin America and Africa, competition among generic premix suppliers and API producers is strong and mainly price-based.
Competition also takes place at the level of complete anticoccidial programmes, where suppliers with broad portfolios have an advantage.
Threat of New Entrants: Medium; Accessible chemistry, but regulatory and GMP barriers in key markets.
Bargaining Power of Suppliers: Medium; Concentrated raw material and API base in China, offset by price competition.
Bargaining Power of Buyers: High; Large integrators, many alternatives and routine product rotation.
Threat of Substitutes: High; Ionophores, other chemical coccidiostats, vaccines and phytogenics.
Competitive Rivalry: Medium; Few branded approval holders; strong price competition in generic markets.

Analytical insights on Clopidol Market covering market dynamics, competitive landscape, and strategic outlook.
The Clopidol Market market is projected to reach $268.50M by 2032, growing at 5.1% CAGR. The Broilers segment holds the largest share.
The global clopidol market, valued at USD 189.74 million in 2025, is shaped by the structure of the poultry industry, the epidemiology of coccidiosis, the regulatory treatment of anticoccidials and the economics of active ingredient supply. Coccidiosis remains one of the most economically significant diseases of commercial poultry, and in-feed prevention is still the main control method in broiler production. Clopidol occupies a specific place in this landscape as a chemical, non-ionophore anticoccidial that is effective against the early stages of the parasite and can be used in shuttle and rotation programmes.
Section 4.2 presents the market growth factor analysis. It covers five macro factors and five micro factors, the type of impact each exerts on the market, and an impact score out of 10 for three forecast windows. The impact scores are analyst assessments based on the secondary and primary research described in Chapter 3; a higher score indicates a stronger influence on market development in that window.
Expansion of Global Poultry Production
Poultry is the fastest-growing major meat category and the main end market for clopidol. According to the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service, global chicken meat production is forecast at about 110.7 million tons in 2026, an increase of nearly 3%. China is forecast to raise output by about 5% to roughly 17.3 million tons, driven by large integrated producers and high grandparent stock inventories; Brazil by about 2% to around 15.8 million tons, with exports forecast to rise to nearly 5.2 million tons; and the United States by about 2% to around 22.2 million tons. Each additional broiler cycle in intensive production requires a coccidiosis control programme, and in-feed anticoccidials remain the standard approach for most commercial broilers. As poultry production grows, particularly in Asia Pacific, Latin America and the Middle East, the volume of medicated feed rises with it. This direct link between bird numbers and anticoccidial consumption is the main reason the broiler segment accounts for 75.00% of clopidol revenue in 2025.
Shift Away from Antibiotic Growth Promoters and Ionophores
Regulatory and market pressure to reduce antimicrobial use in food animals has changed how producers control coccidiosis. The European Union banned antibiotics as growth promoters in 2006, the United States implemented the Veterinary Feed Directive rules for medically important antimicrobials in feed in 2017, and many other countries, including India and China, have introduced restrictions on antimicrobial growth promoters. In the United States, "No Antibiotics Ever" and similar programmes exclude ionophores, which are classified as antibiotics, but generally allow chemical coccidiostats. This places synthetic compounds such as clopidol, nicarbazin, decoquinate and zoalene in a stronger position in these programmes. Clopidol is also listed in the United States as an over-the-counter Type A medicated article rather than a Veterinary Feed Directive drug, which keeps its use relatively simple for feed mills. As integrators in North America, Latin America and Asia develop antibiotic-reduced product lines for domestic and export markets, demand for effective non-antibiotic anticoccidials is expected to rise.
Rotation and Shuttle Programmes to Manage Resistance
Eimeria parasites develop resistance to anticoccidials when the same compound is used continuously. Poultry veterinarians therefore rotate products between flocks and use shuttle programmes, in which a chemical coccidiostat is used in the starter feed and an ionophore in the grower and finisher feeds. Clopidol has a mode of action that differs from that of ionophores and acts on the early sporozoite and trophozoite stages, which makes it useful as a starter-phase product and as a rotation partner that can restore the sensitivity of parasite populations to other drugs. As integrators formalise anticoccidial programmes using sensitivity testing and lesion scoring, older chemical products such as clopidol keep a defined place in the rotation, which supports steady baseline demand.
Integration of Poultry Production in Emerging Markets
Commercial poultry production in India, Southeast Asia, the GCC countries, Africa and parts of Latin America is moving from backyard and small-scale farming to integrated operations with company-owned feed mills. Integrated producers use formulated feed with standardised anticoccidial programmes, which increases demand for premixes such as 25% clopidol. In India, the broiler industry is dominated by integrators, and the use of medicated premixes in commercial feed is well established. Saudi Arabia is investing in domestic poultry production to improve food self-sufficiency, and the UAE is expanding commercial poultry capacity. These trends explain why the fastest-growing countries in the clopidol market are the UAE (7.20%), India (7.19%) and Saudi Arabia (6.98%).
Harmonised International Residue Standards
JECFA evaluated clopidol at its 98th meeting in February 2024, establishing an acceptable daily intake (ADI) of 0–0.04 mg/kg body weight and recommending MRLs for chicken liver (10,400 µg/kg), kidney (8,800 µg/kg), muscle (4,100 µg/kg) and skin/fat (2,600 µg/kg). These MRLs were adopted by the Codex Alimentarius Commission at its 47th session in late 2024. Codex MRLs provide a reference for countries that do not have their own limits and reduce trade uncertainty for poultry exporters, creating an opportunity for wider registration and use of clopidol in emerging markets.
Antibiotic-Free and Reduced-Antibiotic Poultry Programmes
Because clopidol is a chemical coccidiostat rather than an antibiotic, it can be used in production systems that restrict antibiotics, including ionophores. Integrators building antibiotic-free or reduced-antibiotic lines in North America, Latin America and Asia need effective non-antibiotic tools for coccidiosis control, often combined with vaccines. Suppliers that offer technical support for designing such programmes, including clopidol in starter feeds or in rotation, can capture additional demand.
Growth in High-Potential Emerging Markets
Middle East & Africa (6.14%), Asia Pacific (5.61%) and Latin America (5.50%) are forecast to grow faster than the global average of 5.08%. Expanding feed milling capacity, the professionalisation of poultry veterinary services and government programmes to increase domestic protein production create room for new product registrations, local premix manufacturing and distribution partnerships.
Development of Parasite Resistance
Resistance to clopidol can develop rapidly when it is used continuously for long periods. Field studies in several poultry-producing regions have reported reduced sensitivity of Eimeria isolates to clopidol, which limits the number of cycles for which it can be used before a rotation is required. This restricts the share of clopidol within anticoccidial programmes and makes its use dependent on careful programme management.
Regulatory Gaps and Residue Requirements
Clopidol does not currently hold a feed-additive authorisation in the European Union. Commission Regulation (EC) No 2205/2001 withdrew the authorisations of meticlorpindol and of meticlorpindol combined with methylbenzoquate, and clopidol has no MRLs listed under Commission Regulation (EU) No 37/2010. An application for a clopidol-based product ("Coxipol") was evaluated by the EU Reference Laboratory for Feed Additives, but no new authorisation has been granted. Exporters of poultry meat to the EU and other markets with strict residue rules must therefore manage withdrawal periods and residue testing carefully, which can discourage clopidol use in export-oriented operations.
Growth of Coccidiosis Vaccination
Live coccidiosis vaccines are widely used in breeder and layer flocks and are increasingly used in broilers, particularly in antibiotic-free programmes and in rotations designed to restore drug sensitivity. When a vaccine is used, in-feed anticoccidials are withdrawn for that flock, which directly reduces demand for clopidol in those cycles.
Consolidation in the Medicated Feed Additive Industry
The medicated feed additive segment has been consolidating. In October 2024, Phibro Animal Health completed the acquisition of the Zoetis medicated feed additive portfolio, which included more than 37 product lines and six manufacturing sites. Huvepharma has continued to expand its international affiliate network and fermentation capacity. Consolidation concentrates anticoccidial portfolios in a smaller number of specialised companies, which tend to manage complete coccidiosis control programmes, including chemical coccidiostats such as clopidol.
Concentration of API Supply in China
Most clopidol active ingredient is manufactured in China, where producers supply both domestic premix makers and export markets. This provides cost advantages but exposes the supply chain to environmental inspections, changes in Chinese industrial policy, raw material price swings and trade measures. Buyers are increasingly seeking suppliers with regulatory master files and audited GMP facilities, and are qualifying more than one source.
Data-Driven Anticoccidial Programme Management
Integrators are using anticoccidial sensitivity tests, lesion scoring, oocyst counts and production data to decide when to rotate products. This trend favours products with clear positioning within programmes, such as clopidol in the starter phase, and increases the value of technical service offered by suppliers.
Residue Monitoring and Food Safety Scrutiny
National residue monitoring programmes are expanding, and analytical methods such as LC-MS/MS make it easier to detect clopidol residues in poultry tissues and eggs. Clopidol is not approved for laying hens producing eggs for human consumption, and residue findings in eggs or meat can lead to trade restrictions. Strict compliance with withdrawal periods and age limits, such as the restriction on feeding to chickens over 16 weeks of age in the United States, is therefore a continuing challenge for users.
The clopidol value chain has four main stages, from chemical raw materials to livestock producers.

DuPont de Nemours today is a focused, roughly USD 7 bn-revenue multi-industry company. It is no longer the diversified chemical conglomerate of its heritage. After a decade of portfolio surgery, the company consists of two segments: **Healthcare & Water Technologies (about 47% of FY2025 sales):** Tyvek® medical packaging and protective garments, specialty medical device components (Spectrum, Donatelle), and the FilmTec™ / Amberlite™ water purification franchise. **Diversified Industrials (about 53%):** Building envelope products (Tyvek® house wrap, Styrofoam™, Corian®) and engineered industrial technologies (Molykote®, Vespel®, Betaseal™/Betaforce™ adhesives, Cyrel® printing plates). The company earns a premium-specialty margin profile: operating EBITDA margin was 23.8% in FY2025, with guidance of about 24.5% for FY2026. Management targets 3–4% organic growth, 150–200 bps of margin expansion and 8–10% adjusted EPS CAGR through 2028, supported by a lightly levered BBB+/Baa1 balance sheet. The principal overhang is legacy PFAS liability, shared with Chemours, Corteva and Qnity under contractual arrangements. The principal opportunity is a cleaner, higher-growth healthcare/water mix and capital redeployment. --- **Company's own description (FY2025 10-K, Item 1).** DuPont describes itself as a leading provider of advanced solutions that improve everyday life across healthcare, water, construction and industrial markets. It emphasizes helping customers advance their technology pipelines, from clean water to medical packaging that enhances safety and performance. It names its competitive strengths as: - proprietary product and process technologies; - robust application-development pipelines; - well-known brands; - customer intimacy; - global manufacturing and local service capability. **Independent characterization.** DuPont is now best understood as a specialty engineered-materials and components company with four businesses of roughly comparable scale: **Business model and revenue model.** - Revenue is overwhelmingly product sales: materials, components, membranes, resins, garments and plates. Some engineered systems and modules are sold in Water. - There is no material subscription or licensing revenue. Trade secrets may be licensed occasionally (10-K, Intellectual Property). - The contract manufacturing and design services of Spectrum and Donatelle (medical devices) add a design-in / build-to-print services element, but are recognized as product revenue. - Seasonality: North American Building Technologies demand peaks in Q2–Q3. **Value-chain position.** DuPont sits mid-stream as a Tier-1/Tier-2 supplier. It converts purchased raw materials (polyolefins, specialty monomers, resins, silicones, polymers) into engineered materials, membranes and components. These are specified into customers' finished products: medical devices, sterile packaging, water plants, building envelopes, aircraft, vehicles and print packaging. **Customer types.** - Medical device OEMs and sterile packaging converters - Biopharma manufacturers - Industrial end users and EPC/OEM water-system integrators - Municipalities and desalination operators (via integrators) - Builders, contractors and distributors (e.g., Corian® distribution through Hallmark and Parksite) - Automotive and EV OEMs and Tier-1s - Aerospace OEMs - Printing and packaging converters Most products are sold through DuPont's own sales organization, with distributors used for some lines (10-K, Distribution). **End markets.** Healthcare (medical devices, packaging, biopharma, PPE), water (industrial, municipal/desalination, life sciences, microelectronics UPW), construction (residential, non-residential, repair/remodel) and industrial (aerospace, automotive/EV, printing and packaging, general industrial).
Nippon Soda is a mid-cap, diversified Japanese chemical group founded in 1920 as a chlor-alkali producer and progressively re-shaped into a portfolio anchored by two high-value franchises: research-based crop protection (Agri Business, 35% of FY3/26 sales) and specialty "Chemical Materials" (25%), complemented by lower-margin but stable trading/logistics, plant engineering and environmental-recycling businesses. Its crown jewels are niche, high-barrier products in which it holds globally relevant positions — the pharmaceutical excipient NISSO HPC (hydroxypropyl cellulose), liquid polybutadiene NISSO-PB for AI-server copper-clad laminates, KrF photoresist polymer VP-POLYMER, and proprietary agrochemicals such as Mospilan (acetamiprid) and Topsin-M. With FY3/26 net sales of JPY 152.1 billion, record net profit of JPY 18.3 billion, an equity ratio of ~66.6%, and a 50%+ total shareholder return policy, the company is a conservatively financed, R&D-led specialty player now pivoting toward healthcare (including animal health) and advanced ICT materials under its Stage III plan to FY3/30. --- ### Company's own description According to its Stage III medium-term plan (May 2026), Nippon Soda describes its mission as creating new value through the power of chemistry, and frames the group as supporting everyday life through chemical products and services across four "material" fields: Agriculture (securing food and sustainable agriculture), Healthcare (healthy life for all people), Environment (toward a resource-recycling society) and ICT (chemical functions for IT devices). The Yuho describes the parent's business as manufacturing, processing and marketing of industrial chemicals, synthetic resins and plastics, dyes, pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, veterinary pharmaceuticals and other chemical products. ### Business model and revenue model Nippon Soda's revenue is overwhelmingly product-based (manufactured chemical sales), with secondary service revenues from logistics (warehousing, transport, customs brokerage), engineering/EPC contracts and waste treatment. There is no material subscription revenue. Licensing/active-ingredient supply is embedded in Agri Business: the company supplies proprietary active ingredients (AIs) to global majors and sells formulated products through its own overseas network and partners. The revenue mix by nature (approximation from FY3/26 segment data; company does not disclose a product/service split): *Note: the above split is an analytical characterization; the company does not report revenue by nature.* ### Value-chain position **Agri Business:** fully integrated R&D-type agrochemical originator — chemical synthesis, biological/safety research, formulation research, field evaluation, AI manufacturing (including via Nisso Namhae Agro in Korea) and formulation, registration and global marketing (Stage III plan). The company emphasizes that R&D-type agrochemical originators are largely limited to five overseas majors plus Japanese firms, and that Japanese originators punch above their weight in new AI discovery. **Chemical Materials:** upstream chlor-alkali (caustic soda, chlorine, hydrochloric acid) feeding downstream fine/specialty chemistry (living anionic polymerization for NISSO-PB and VP-POLYMER; cellulose derivatization for HPC; penem API synthesis). **Trading & Logistics:** captive and third-party distribution (Nisso Shoji) and specialized hazardous/pharma logistics (Sanwa Soko, Sanso Unyu). **Engineering:** fine-chemical-type EPC (Nisso Engineering) and civil works (Nisso Kensetsu). **Eco Solutions:** waste treatment, zinc recovery from electric-arc-furnace dust, sulfuric acid recycling (Nisso Metallochemical). ### Customer types and end-markets Customers include global agrochemical majors and distributors, farmers' cooperatives (via channels), generic and innovator pharmaceutical companies and supplement makers (HPC, SSF, faropenem API), copper-clad-laminate (CCL) and semiconductor-materials producers (NISSO-PB, 1,2-SBS, VP-POLYMER), thermal-paper manufacturers (color developers), battery-materials producers, industrial users of commodity chemicals, steelmakers (EAF dust treatment), and public/private construction clients (Engineering). End-markets: crop protection (fruit & vegetables first, expanding to grains), pharmaceuticals/nutraceuticals, semiconductors/electronics (AI servers, HBM, automotive chips), infrastructure, and environmental services. ### Independent characterization Nippon Soda is best understood as two engines and three stabilizers. The engines — Agri Business and specialty Chemical Materials — generated roughly 75% of FY3/26 segment operating profit (JPY 11.2 billion of JPY 14.97 billion before adjustments) on 60% of sales. Agri is cyclical and FX-sensitive (65.7% overseas sales ratio in FY3/26), while Chemical Materials has been structurally re-rated from a ~5–6% margin business to ~15–17% after exiting commodity lines (metallic sodium via Alkaline S.A.S., NISSO HI-CHLON, phenol-based color developers, sodium cyanide). The stabilizers (Trading & Logistics, Engineering, Eco Solutions) are low-growth and modest-margin but add scale and cash. A further, often-overlooked profit pillar is equity-method income (JPY 6.06 billion in FY3/26, chiefly Iharabras in Brazil), which made ordinary profit (JPY 22.99 billion) much larger than operating profit and is highly FX-sensitive (BRL/USD).
RPM International is a holding company for more than a dozen semi-autonomous specialty-chemicals franchises. These businesses make coatings, sealants, roofing, concrete admixtures, flooring, fireproofing and building-envelope systems, mostly for maintenance, repair and restoration rather than new construction. Its brand portfolio is unusually deep for a USD 7.9 billion company: Rust-Oleum, DAP, Zinsser, Varathane and The Pink Stuff on the consumer side; Tremco, Euclid, Dryvit, Nudura, Kalzip, Stonhard, Carboline and Fibergrate on the professional side. Each brand holds a leading position in a niche that larger diversified coatings groups do not dominate. Since 2018 RPM has run successive operational-improvement programs (MAP to Growth, MAP 2025, and now "MAP 3.0"). These have lifted gross margin from about 36% (FY2022) to about 41% (FY2026) and moved the group from a loose federation toward a centrally coordinated operating company. RPM is a disciplined, dividend-growing compounder with 52 consecutive annual dividend increases. Its growth vectors are engineered building systems, emerging markets (the "Platform" model) and bolt-on M&A. --- ### Company's own description (FY2026 Form 10-K, Item 1) RPM describes itself as follows: its subsidiaries manufacture, market and sell specialty chemical product lines, including high-quality specialty paints, infrastructure rehab and repair products, protective coatings, roofing systems, sealants and adhesives. These products focus on the maintenance and improvement needs of the construction, industrial, specialty and consumer markets. Footprint as of 31 May 2026: - Products marketed in about 167 countries and territories. - Manufacturing in about 120 locations across 22 countries. - About 31% of sales generated internationally: foreign operations 29.8% of net sales, plus direct U.S. exports of 0.9%. The press-release boilerplate calls RPM "a world leader in specialty coatings, sealants, building materials and related services." ### Business model RPM's model has four defining features. - **Decentralised entrepreneurial structure, becoming more integrated.** The founder's philosophy, still quoted in the 2026 proxy, is: "Hire the best people you can find. Create an atmosphere that will keep them. Then let them do their jobs." Operating companies historically kept their own brands, sales forces and ERP systems. The MAP programs are deliberately centralising procurement, manufacturing, accounting and IT. The stated goal is to consolidate more than 75 ERP systems to one platform per segment (Q4 FY2026 8-K). **Repair and maintenance bias:** Much of the portfolio serves existing assets: roof restoration, re-cover, concrete repair, corrosion control, rust prevention and DIY touch-up. That demand is less cyclical than new-build construction. The FY2026 10-K notes that re-roofing has historically accounted for over three-quarters of U.S. roofing demand. **Systems and turnkey selling:** In CPG and PCG, RPM increasingly sells integrated systems (the "Power of One" building envelope) and supply-and-apply turnkey services. Examples include Stonhard flooring installation and Weatherproofing Technologies roofing services. This captures more of each construction project's spend. **Bolt-on M&A plus organic growth:** RPM completed six acquisitions in each of FY2025 and FY2026 (FY2026 10-K Note F). ### Revenue model mix | Revenue type | Characterisation | Evidence | |---|---|---| | Product sales | Dominant (estimated well above 90% of revenue; exact split not publicly disclosed) | Manufactured coatings, sealants, admixtures and similar products sold through retail, distribution and direct channels | | Installation and services | Material within CPG and PCG; not separately disclosed | WTI/WTC roofing services, turnkey general contracting, TremCare maintenance programs, Stonhard installed flooring, Legend Brands/RoofTec restoration services, Pure Air Control Services | | Warranty and extended programs | Embedded in pricing; generates deferred revenue | Current unearned revenue USD 75.3M and long-term unearned revenue USD 92.4M at FY2026 (standardized balance sheet) | | Licensing and royalties | Minor | The 10-K notes license fees and royalty income from numerous international license agreements, plus equity-method joint ventures | | Subscription | None identified | — | RPM does not disclose a product versus service versus licensing split. From filings, the mix is: ### Value-chain position RPM is a formulator and brand owner, positioned downstream of commodity chemical producers. It buys petroleum-derived resins, solvents, pigments, minerals, metals and packaging (FY2026 10-K, Raw Materials). It is selectively backward-integrated: RPM cites expanding in-house raw material production, and Arnette Polymers makes amine curing agents and epoxy intermediates. Channels downstream include: - Mass merchants and home centres, where the single largest Consumer customer was 20% of Consumer sales in FY2026. - Hardware and paint stores. - Distributors. - Contractors and specifiers. - Direct sales to industrial plant owners, public institutions and infrastructure agencies. ### Customer types and end markets | End market | Segment exposure | Representative brands | |---|---|---| | Commercial / institutional building envelope (roofing, walls, waterproofing, sealants) | CPG | Tremco, Dryvit, Nudura, illbruck, Kalzip, Volteco | | Concrete, cement and infrastructure | CPG, PCG | Euclid, Toxement, Viapol, Prime Resins, Fibrecrete | | Industrial maintenance, oil and gas, petrochemical, power, data centres | PCG | Carboline, Stonhard, Fibergrate, Nullifire | | Food and pharma | PCG | Mantrose-Haeuser, NatureSeal, Profile Food Ingredients | | Marine, wood finishes, powder coatings | PCG | Pettit, Woolsey, FinishWorks/Mohawk, TCI | | Residential DIY and professional painters | Consumer | Rust-Oleum, Zinsser, Varathane, DAP | | Household cleaning | Consumer | The Pink Stuff, Krud Kutter, Mean Green | | Pigments, colorants, OEM and personal care | Consumer (Color Group) | Day-Glo | | Restoration services equipment | CPG (Legend Brands) | Dri-Eaz, Sapphire Scientific | ### Independent characterisation RPM is best understood as a portfolio of niche category leaders with a structural margin-improvement story layered on top. The professional segments (CPG and PCG) are about 66% of sales and supply the growth. In FY2026 they posted record results driven by high-performance buildings, data centres, infrastructure, fireproofing and concrete admixtures. In Q1 FY2027, emerging-market regions grew more than 20%. The Consumer segment is about 34% of sales. It is a cash-generative but volume-challenged DIY business. Organic Consumer sales fell 0.8% in Q4 FY2026 and 4.7% in Q2 FY2026. They recovered to +5.2% in Q1 FY2027 on shelf-space wins and pricing. The equity debate therefore centres on three questions: 1. Can MAP savings and pricing protect margins against renewed raw-material inflation linked to the Middle East conflict? 2. Is the Q1 FY2027 CPG slowdown temporary? 3. Will the 9 November 2026 investor day credibly frame the next margin plan?
