Feed emulsifiers are surface-active additives included in compound feed, premixes and milk replacers to improve the dispersion of fats and oils in the water-based environment of the digestive tract. By breaking fat into smaller droplets and supporting the formation of mixed micelles, emulsifiers increase the surface area available to pancreatic lipase and improve the digestion and absorption of dietary lipids and fat-soluble nutrients.
This report covers the global feed emulsifiers market by emulsifier type (Lysolecithin; Synthetic, comprising glyceryl polyethyleneglycol ricinoleate and other synthetic emulsifiers), by livestock (Poultry, Swine and Others) and by region (North America, Europe, Asia Pacific, Latin America and Middle East & Africa), with country-level analysis for 19 countries and sub-regions.

Specialty distributors are an important route to market, particularly for mid-sized feed mills.
Leading Companies
The companies listed below are active in the feed emulsifiers market. They are listed for reference and are not ranked.
Threat of new entrants (Moderate): Manufacturing technology for lysolecithin and synthetic emulsifiers is accessible, but registrations, efficacy trial data and relationships with feed mills and integrators take time to build.
Bargaining power of suppliers (Moderate): Lecithin is a by-product of oilseed crushing and is widely available, but its price and quality follow the oilseed and vegetable oil markets. Specialty raw materials for synthetic emulsifiers come from a smaller number of oleochemical producers.
Bargaining power of buyers (High): Large integrators and compound feed producers buy in volume, test products in their own trials and can switch between suppliers or between emulsifiers and alternative additives.
Threat of substitutes (Moderate): Feed enzymes such as lipases, bile acid products, higher-quality vegetable oils and changes to diet formulation can partly substitute for emulsifiers.
Competitive rivalry (High): Several global additive companies and many regional formulators compete on performance claims, trial data, technical service and price.

Analytical insights on Feed Emulsifiers Market covering market dynamics, competitive landscape, and strategic outlook.
The Feed Emulsifiers Market market is projected to reach $277.76M by 2032, growing at 7.0% CAGR. The Lysolecithin segment holds the largest share.
Expanding compound feed production, led by poultry
According to the Alltech Agri-Food Outlook released in April 2026, global feed production reached about 1.44 billion tonnes in 2025, up nearly 3% from 2024. Broiler feed, the largest species category, grew 3.7% to 400.4 million tonnes, layer feed grew 3.2% to 180.1 million tonnes and pig feed grew 3.0% to 380.9 million tonnes. Over the longer term, the OECD-FAO Agricultural Outlook 2025–2034 projects poultry meat output to rise from 144.9 million tonnes to 173.4 million tonnes by 2034, which is about 62% of the projected increase in global meat production. Because emulsifiers are used mainly in high-energy monogastric diets, poultry-led growth in feed volume directly increases demand.
Pressure to reduce feed cost per unit of energy
Fats and oils are expensive sources of dietary energy, and their prices follow the volatile vegetable oil and rendered fat markets. Emulsifiers allow nutritionists to recover more energy from added fat or to lower the dietary energy specification without loss of performance. This gives producers a measurable cost lever when margins are under pressure.
Limited fat digestion in young and fast-growing animals
Modern broiler and pig genetics need energy-dense diets from an early age, when bile acid and lipase secretion are still limited. Emulsifiers help close this digestive gap in starter and pre-starter diets. For LYSOFORTE Extend, Kemin reported a 2.4–6.5% improvement in body weight gain in a 42-day Ross 308 broiler trial, along with feed conversion improvements of up to 3.3% in normal-energy diets.
Use of lower-cost and more saturated fat sources
Feed mills increasingly use by-product fats, acid oils and more saturated animal fats to control costs. These are less digestible than unsaturated vegetable oils, particularly for young animals, which increases the benefit of adding an emulsifier.
Sustainability and resource efficiency
Better nutrient utilisation reduces the feed and land needed per kilogram of meat. Suppliers increasingly quantify these effects. For example, Kemin reports carbon footprint reductions of up to 0.29 kg CO2-eq per kg live weight in its broiler trial.
High-growth emerging markets
Asia Pacific, Latin America and Middle East & Africa are projected to grow faster than the global average. India (CAGR 9.39%), Saudi Arabia (9.03%) and the UAE (8.64%) are the fastest-growing country markets in this report. Rising poultry production and the shift from backyard to commercial and integrated farming in these markets increase the use of formulated compound feed.
Blends and next-generation absorption enhancers
Products that combine lysolecithin with synthetic emulsifiers and monoglycerides, and concentrated lysophospholipid products marketed as 'absorption accelerators', allow suppliers to differentiate on performance rather than on price.
Young animal diets, ruminants and aquaculture
Calf milk replacers, piglet diets and aquafeed are smaller but growing applications. Aquaculture feed was the fastest-growing species category in 2025, rising 4.7% to 55.5 million tonnes according to Alltech.
Variable and diet-dependent response
The benefit of an emulsifier depends on the fat source, inclusion level, animal age and the energy level of the diet. Results from trials do not always translate into consistent on-farm returns, which makes some feed producers cautious about assigning full energy matrix values.
Efficacy evidence and registration requirements
Regulators require product-specific efficacy data. In its assessment of glyceryl polyethyleneglycol ricinoleate, EFSA's FEEDAP Panel could not conclude on efficacy because the data were insufficient. Generating such data is costly, particularly for smaller suppliers.
Animal disease outbreaks
Outbreaks of African swine fever (ASF) and highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) can reduce animal numbers and feed demand in affected markets. Spain confirmed its first ASF cases since 1994 in wild boar near Barcelona in November 2025, and market participants expected this to reduce the country's 2026 feed demand. Brazil also reported an HPAI case in commercial birds in 2025, which temporarily disrupted chicken exports.
Feed additive price volatility
Feed additive markets saw large price movements in 2025, and Kemiex expected heightened volatility into the first half of 2026. Emulsifier suppliers are also exposed to the prices of lecithin, castor oil derivatives and carriers.
Demonstrating return on investment
Emulsifiers compete for a place in the formulation with other digestibility-enhancing additives, such as enzymes. Suppliers need to show a return on investment under the customer's own diet and fat source.
Positioning shifts from emulsification to nutrient absorption
Suppliers increasingly describe their products as supporting all stages of lipid digestion, including emulsification, hydrolysis, micelle formation and absorption, and as improving the use of amino acids and other nutrients. Kemin, for example, has published research on the nutrigenomic activity of LYSOFORTE Extend.
Growth of combination products
Formulations that combine lysolecithin with synthetic emulsifiers are gaining ground over single-component products, which reduces the distinction between the two product types in commercial offerings.
Portfolio building and distribution partnerships
Specialty feed additive companies are adding emulsifier capability through acquisitions and partnerships. Adisseo acquired FRAmelco Group, a producer of glycerides and lysolecithins with plants in the Netherlands, Spain and Thailand, in 2020. In December 2024, Brenntag Specialties signed an exclusive distribution agreement for Pathway Intermediates' Lipidol in parts of Europe.
The feed emulsifiers value chain links the oilseed and oleochemical industries with feed manufacturers and livestock producers.
September 2020: Adisseo; Signed an agreement to acquire FRAmelco Group, a Netherlands-based producer of glycerides and lysolecithins with plants in the Netherlands, Spain and Thailand and gross sales of about EUR 30 million.
December 2024: Brenntag Specialties / Pathway Intermediates; Signed an exclusive distribution agreement for Lipidol in Central and Eastern Europe, the Benelux and the Nordic countries.
May 2025: Kemin Industries; Published broiler trial results for LYSOFORTE Extend, showing improvements in weight gain, feed conversion and income over feed cost.
Near-term growth will likely concentrate in modular bioreactor lines and closed-system media workflows that shorten validation cycles while preserving batch traceability.
Partnerships between CDMOs and instrumentation vendors should accelerate standard datasets for comparability across sites, improving forecasting models used in capacity planning.
Longer horizon, organoid and microphysiological adoption may reshape segment mix; teams that invest early in assay interoperability and cloud QC hooks are better positioned to capture upside without fragmenting their analytics stack.

Nouryon is a carve-out specialty chemicals platform built from the former specialty chemicals arm of AkzoNobel and owned since 2018 by Carlyle and GIC. It manufactures performance ingredients and process chemicals — surfactants, chelates, cellulose ethers, organic peroxides, metal alkyls, colloidal silica, expandable microspheres, chromatography media and pulp-bleaching chemicals — that customers use to make consumer and industrial products. Revenue is roughly $5.1bn, generated through roughly 63 plants and sold in more than 80 countries. Its competitive identity rests on a portfolio of global or regional leadership positions in niche, technically demanding chemistries (Expancel®, Kromasil®, Levasil®, Bermocoll®, Dissolvine®), long-term integrated supply contracts with pulp mills, and a disciplined, Axalta-style private-equity operating model under CEO Charlie Shaver. The investment debate centres on high adjusted EBITDA margins (~22.5%) and solid free cash flow set against heavy leverage (~5.0x), recurring IPO deferrals and cyclic exposure to polymer and pulp markets. --- ### What the company does Nouryon produces specialty and performance chemicals that enter customer formulations or manufacturing processes as functional ingredients, catalysts, initiators or process aids. The company itself characterises its output as "essential solutions" that customers use to manufacture everyday products in attractive end-markets, and it describes the business in its fact sheet as a global specialty chemicals leader operating in more than 80 countries with a portfolio of industry-leading brands (Nouryon company fact sheet). In its 2025 sustainability report the company frames growth as coming from innovating safer, more efficient and more sustainable chemistry for customers (Nouryon 2025 Sustainability Report release, 7 May 2026). ### Company's own description (paraphrased from latest public materials) Nouryon presents itself as a global specialty chemicals leader whose products are used in personal care, cleaning goods, paints and coatings, agriculture and food, pharmaceuticals, building products, polymers, pulp and paper, oil and gas, and mining. Since the Q3 2024 reorganisation it organises around three segments — Consumer & Life Sciences, Performance Materials and Resource Solutions — and six business units (FY2024 results release, 7 Mar 2025). ### Independent characterisation Nouryon is best understood as a portfolio of ~30–40 mid-sized niche chemistry franchises sharing a common manufacturing, procurement and commercial backbone. Roughly three economic archetypes coexist: 1. **Formulated consumer ingredients** (surfactants, chelates, cellulose ethers, polymers for home & personal care, agro adjuvants, micronutrients): moderate cyclicality, sticky qualification, pricing tied to raw materials (ethylene oxide, fatty amines, cellulose). 2. **Polymer process chemistry** (organic peroxides, metal alkyls, PVC reactor additives): technically demanding, hazardous-materials handling acts as a barrier to entry; volumes track polyolefin and PVC operating rates, notably in China. 3. **Resource / pulp chemistry** (sodium chlorate, chlorine dioxide, hydrogen peroxide, mining and oilfield chemicals): energy-intensive and contract-based, with 10–15-year integrated "chemical island" supply agreements for pulp mills, especially in South America. ### Value chain position Nouryon sits mid-stream: it buys base chemicals and energy (ethylene, ethylene oxide, fatty raw materials, salt/chlor-alkali derivatives — some from sister company Nobian — cellulose, aluminium, electricity), converts them into functional intermediates, and sells to formulators and manufacturers (consumer goods companies, paint makers, polymer producers, pulp mills, agrochemical formulators, pharma manufacturers). Distribution partners include IMCD and Brenntag Specialties for selected regions and lines.
