The personal care industry continues to see potential increases in market demand for sodium bicarbonate. With new sodium-based products continually being produced in the personal care sector to meet the demands of women, men, and children, the sodium bicarbonate market is projected to thrive in this end use industry throughout the forecast period. Sodium bicarbonate is used in the personal care industry to help in skin cleaning. Furthermore, because sodium bicarbonate may combine with oil and fat, it is used by many hair care product producers. Sodium bicarbonate absorbs moisture and interacts with odour-causing chemicals. As a result, it is employed in natural deodorants. It works as a natural exfoliator, teeth whitener, skin soother, complexion enhancer, scalp clarifier, and odour blocker. Sodium bicarbonate's varied features contribute to the rising demand for sodium bicarbonate in the personal care products market.
Sodium bicarbonate is utilised in a variety of personal care products because of the following benefits it provides:
· Abrasiveness: Removes materials from the body's surface, aids in tooth cleaning, and increases gloss.
· pH regulation: Maintains the pH of cosmetics and skin care products.
· Deodorizing properties: Reduces or conceals undesirable body odors.
· Skin protection: Assists in avoiding the negative effects of external elements on the skin.
· Oral care/hygiene agent: Offers aesthetic effects to the oral cavity (cleaning, deodorization, and protection)
Since it can help neutralise foul, acidic smells, sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) is becoming a more prevalent element in deodorant. Baking soda's deodorizing efficacy stems from its ability to eliminate odours rather than simply masking them with scents. The majority of unpleasant odours are caused by either strong acids (such as sour milk) or strong bases (spoiled fish). Baking soda deodorises by neutralizing both acidic and basic odour molecules, resulting in a more odour-free environment. Baking soda is used in industry to manage odours in sewage treatment facilities, barns, and feedlots. Sodium bicarbonate is found in toothbrush and denture cleansers, bath beads and salts, baby powders, and deodorant powders, mostly for its odour neutralizing abilities. Baking soda may be used as a personal deodorant for the body, as well as a home deodorant on carpets, furniture, and in the refrigerator and freezer. Several mouthwashes sold in the market are containing sodium bicarbonate as a component. It has both antiseptic and abrasive qualities. Sodium bicarbonate toothpaste supports a healthy pH balance in the mouth, reduces bad breath, and prevents infections. It cleans the teeth and gums mechanically, neutralises acid production in the mouth, and serves as an antiseptic to help prevent infections. Because of its easy availability, safety, minimum abrasiveness, and antibacterial properties, sodium bicarbonate is a patient-friendly mouthwash, component in dentifrice, or chewing gum that may be used on a long-term basis as an adjunct almost free of adverse effects. Sodium bicarbonate is also an active component in antacids, which are used to treat heartburn and acid reflux. It works by immediately neutralising stomach acid and temporarily alleviating acid reflux symptoms. While making a nasal irrigation solution, sodium bicarbonate can be used as a buffering agent in conjunction with table salt. It is used in the treatment of blepharitis in the eye. Sodium bicarbonate is also an authorised active component in over-the-counter skin protectant and anti-carries medications. Sodium bicarbonate is quite effective in gently peeling and exfoliating skin: cells separate from the skin and pores are cleared. Skin care products are more easily absorbed, and the skin is protected. Therefore, the growing applicability of baking soda in personal care industry products is expected to create an opportunity for the market to expand during forecast period.
