March 2017	Contract and Agreement	New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) and the Ministry of Energy of Poland signed a memorandum of understanding for increasing the share of renewables connected to Poland’s power system. The project goal was to test the assigned grid area functionalities of Special Protection Scheme (SPS) and hybrid Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) to increase power system security in the region. For the project, Hitachi, Ltd, Hitachi Chemical Co., Ltd, and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation each signed an entrustment agreement with NEDO. This helped the company showcase its technologies in the global markets.
March 2016	Product Development	Hitachi Chemical Co., Ltd launched its lead-acid battery, LL1500-WS for renewable hybrid energy storage systems in County Offaly, Ireland. The battery unit was installed and demonstrated for connecting the stabilization systems, which comprises hybrid energy storage systems and other related equipment.
