The seeds segment offers a broad portfolio of crops with particular strengths in corn, soybean, sunflower, cereals, and vegetables. Moreover, the company has acquired the ADAMA agric company which deals in nematicide crop protection products.
Strategy
Syngenta prioritizes research and development to improve product development. It also focuses on mergers and acquisitions globally. The corporate strategy of Syngenta rests on its AQL Restructure Program. The program is aimed at achieving improvement in profitability as a percentage of sales over the period. It constantly focuses on marketing and distribution, research & development as a part of the development business strategy. The program included plans to further improve efficiency in customer-facing operations, research & development, and production and improve the ratio of trade working capital to sales. For instance, in 2019 particular projects launched under the AOL restructuring program were finished, and restructuring activities focused on ongoing attempts to streamline the management structures and other new productivity initiatives to improve information systems and create operating savings.
