April 2023	Product Development	UL LLC published UL 2941The Outline of Investigation (OOI) for Cybersecurity of Distributed Energy and Inverter-Based Resources. UL 2941, developed in collaboration with the United States Department of Energy's (DOE's) National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), establishes testable standards for energy storage and generation devices on the distribution grid. UL 2941 specifies specifications for solar inverters, battery chargers, wind turbines, fuel cells, and other grid-related resources.
February 2023	Partnership	The Modular Energy System Architecture (MESA) Regulations Alliance and UL Solutions, partnered to offer testing and certification related to the MESA-DER profile. This profile is suggested for incorporation into the IEEE P1815.2 standard, Standard Profile for Communications with Distributed Energy Resources, which employs IEEE 1815, Standard for Electric Power Systems Communications - Distributed Network Protocol (DNP3).
January 2023	MoU	UL Solutions and Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL), energy innovative technologies provider, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to work together to make battery-powered energy storage systems (BESS) and EV batteries secure to deploy and use.

August 2021	Collaboration	UL and Hyundai Motor Company, collaborated to advance the safe deployment and usage of second life battery energy storage systems (SLBESS). UL and Hyundai started working together on SLBESS activities such as safety testing and assessment, a North America sample project, and the creation of evaluation processes.
August 2020	Launch	HOMER Energy by UL, introduced a new HOMER Pro feature that simplifies the drafting of information-rich proposals. It helps system designers to prepare professional reports efficiently that highlight cost savings from distributed renewable energy projects, as well as technical elements of the simulated system, using its new proposal writer.
March 2020	Development	Fermata Energy's bidirectional EV charging system certified to a new North American safety Standard, UL 9741, the Industry Standard for Bidirectional EV Charging System Equipment. Bidirectional chargers not only store electricity that powers the vehicle, but also supply energy back to the electrical grid
December 2019	Acquisition	UL, a global pioneer in safety science, acquired HOMER Energy.
