Data centers are facilities or locations that operate for storing and distributing data across several locations via the Internet. Due to a rapidly rising need for data centers, many enterprises tend to deploy seamless connectivity between the two systems of communication. As the data centers offer real-time data retrieval, addition, and analytics, there must be a high-speed internet connection, which can be achieved by deploying fiber-optic networks in combination with LAN cables. Data centers gather significant amounts of data from more than 100 billion webpages, with billions of users accessing the Internet over high bandwidth in a day. The growing demand for high bandwidth and cloud services by small, medium and large enterprises offered by data centers is one of the reasons increasing the demand for LAN cables for data centers networks, which ultimately leads to investments in the development and use of LAN cables.
Data centres and intelligent buildings require LAN cables to operate effectively. The need for cloud services has increased the demand for LAN cables due to the increased adoption of cloud computing and colocation facilities by organizations. In the last few years, standard data centers have been using CAT 5E, CAT 6, and CAT 6A cables. Data centers need many cables, and thus, the data center operators commonly choose CAT 6 cables as they cost 50% lesser than fiber optic cables. Additionally, the installation of LAN cables is simple compared to fiber cables. Running and terminating LAN cable is simple and easy to repair if it breaks. On the other hand, fiber cables require specialized knowledge and equipment, which is beyond the experience and resources of data center operators. Hence, the demand for LAN cables is higher than the other types of cables. Thus, the increasing number of data centers is expected to drive the growth of the global LAN cable market during the forecast period.
Ethernet is the global standard for network equipment in LAN. It does not have any handling issues as fiber cables and is not difficult to terminate.
