Tyre pressure monitoring systems (TPMS) are a highly fragmented market, with many small and medium-sized businesses in direct competition with a small number of large ones. Rapid technical development is another aspect of the market that makes it challenging for smaller players to keep up. NXP Semiconductors, The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, ZF, Friedrichshafen Ag, Shanghai Baolong Automotive Corporation, Bh Sens Group, Cub Elecparts Inc. are a few of the top companies in the TPMS market. These businesses provide a variety of TPMS products, including as direct, indirect, and hybrid TPMS. While indirect TPMS systems employ wheel speed sensors to determine tyre pressure based on the speed of each wheel, direct TPMS systems use sensors positioned in each tyre to detect tyre pressure. Direct and indirect TPMS technologies are combined in hybrid TPMS systems.
The TPMS market is one that is vibrant and cutthroat. To suit the requirements of their clients, the market's top companies are consistently inventing and creating new items. The market is anticipated to gain from new technological advancements as well as the rising demand for TPMS in commercial cars.
Threat Of New Entrants
The tire pressure monitoring system industry is highly capital intensive, and the level of technical expertise required for tire pressure monitoring system development and manufacturing is highly specific. The presence of well-known tire pressure monitoring system manufacturers such as NXP Semiconductors, ZF TRW, The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, BorgWarner Inc, Baolong Automotive Corporation in the tire pressure monitoring system market and their strong research capabilities make it difficult for new entrants to gain significant market shares and achieve economies of scale.
Moreover, established companies are manufacturing tire pressure monitoring systems with high-quality materials and advanced technologies. The high manufacturing standards and advanced product development activities give them a competitive advantage over the new entrants. Thus, the threat of new entrants in the global tire pressure monitoring system is expected to be low during the forecast period.
Bargaining Power Of Suppliers
The tire pressure monitoring system manufacturers procure both raw materials and components from suppliers. The raw materials include aluminum and semiconductors, while the components include an RF transmitter, RF antenna, accelerometer, and radio receiver. There is a large number of raw materials suppliers. The availability of components suppliers is moderate as the components are manufactured with continuously evolving technologies while maintaining the highest manufacturing standards to achieve the required working efficiency.
Established tire pressure monitoring system manufacturers procure these raw materials and components in very high quantities, which reduces the bargaining power of suppliers up to a certain extent. However, the tire pressure monitoring system manufacturing companies cannot easily switch suppliers due to the risks involved in not getting the required quantity and quality of materials and the necessary technologies and efficiency of the components from new suppliers, on time, which raises the switching cost. Moreover, these manufacturers tend to have long-term contracts with their suppliers. Thus, the bargaining power of suppliers in the Global Tire pressure monitoring system is expected to be moderate during the forecast period.
Threat Of Substitutes
Currently, tire pressure monitoring systems have no direct substitutes in the global market. Thus, the threat of substitutes in the global tire pressure monitoring system. Although the system is costly and is not installed in every vehicle. The threat of substitute is expected to be low throughout the forecast period.
Bargaining Power Of Buyers
Tire pressure monitoring system are currently primarily being installed by automakers. However, several automakers are either purchasing or manufacturing tire pressure monitoring systems for installation in their vehicles. The number of buyers of tire pressure monitoring system is moderate as the awareness regarding the benefits of tire pressure monitoring system and it is installed in mostly in luxury vehicles. The buyers generally depend on the existing providers as the switching cost and the risks associated with the product quality, technical specifications, replacement, and aftermarket services of new tire pressure monitoring system manufacturers are high. Thus, the overall bargaining power of buyers in the global tire pressure monitoring system is expected to be moderate during the study period.
Intensity Of Rivalry
Product differentiation within the global tire pressure monitoring system is very high. This is because tire pressure monitoring system manufacturing companies are developing various materials, technologies, charging methods, and product designs according to the requirements of the end users to improve their performance, reduce charging time, and enhance vehicle capabilities. Hence, they are heavily investing in the extensive research & development of electric systems.
The low threat of new entrants, low threat of substitutes, moderate bargaining power of buyers, and moderate bargaining power of suppliers are the factors contributing to the moderate intensity of rivalry in the Global Tire pressure monitoring system during the study period.
