Market Overview
The global silicone potting compound market was valued at USD 1,098.34 million in 2025 and is projected to reach USD 1,397.44 million by 2032, expanding at a CAGR of 3.38% during 2026–2032. Over the historic period the market grew from USD 929.84 million in 2022 to USD 1,045.73 million in 2024, and the forecast adds an absolute increment of USD 299.10 million between 2025 and 2032.
Silicone potting compounds are liquid polysiloxane systems that are poured or dispensed around electronic assemblies and cured into elastomers or gels that protect circuitry against moisture, contaminants, vibration, thermal cycling and high voltage. Their wide service-temperature window, low modulus, stable dielectric properties and resistance to ageing give them an advantage over epoxy and polyurethane alternatives in demanding power, automotive and lighting electronics. Demand in the forecast period is anchored in vehicle electrification, the build-out of solar, wind and storage power conversion, the move to silicon carbide (SiC) and gallium nitride (GaN) power devices that operate at higher junction temperatures, and the continued expansion of electronics manufacturing in Asia Pacific. Year-on-year growth moderates from 4.21% in 2026 to 2.74% in 2032 as the installed base matures and pricing normalises.

Segmentation Summary
The market is analysed by cure type (Addition Cure and Condensation Cure), by application (Power Electronics, Automotive Electronics, and LED & Others) and by region (North America, Europe, Asia Pacific, Latin America, and Middle East & Africa), with 20 country-level markets. Addition-cure (platinum-catalysed) systems dominate because they cure without by-products, show negligible shrinkage and can be cured in deep sections, which suits power modules, inverters and automotive control units; their share rises from 60.00% in 2025 to 61.75% in 2032. Condensation-cure systems retain a large installed base in cost-sensitive general electronics, lighting and industrial assemblies. Among applications, Automotive Electronics is valued at USD 329.50 million in 2025 and grows at 3.62%, while LED & Others grows more slowly at 2.68% as LED lighting penetration matures.
Competitive Landscape Summary
The market is moderately consolidated at the upstream level. A small group of integrated silicone producers – Dow, Wacker Chemie, Shin-Etsu Chemical, Momentive Performance Materials, Bluestar Silicones (formerly Elkem Silicones) – control siloxane monomer and polymer capacity and supply a broad range of potting compounds and gels under their own brands. Formulators and adhesive specialists such as Henkel, H.B. Fuller, CHT Group, Parker Hannifin (Parker LORD), Element Solutions (MacDermid Alpha / Electrolube), Hubei Huitian New Materials compete on application engineering, dispensing support, certifications and speed of qualification. Competition centres on thermal conductivity, flame retardancy (UL 94 V-0 ratings), low viscosity for void-free filling, cure speed and long-term reliability at elevated temperature. Since 2022 the leading suppliers have launched thermally conductive and low-density grades targeted at electric-vehicle batteries and power modules, expanded specialty silicone capacity in China, Europe and the United States, and pursued acquisitions to strengthen electronics portfolios.
Challenges and Opportunities
The principal challenges are volatility in silicon metal and methylchlorosilane costs, the concentration of upstream silicon production in China, substitution pressure from lower-cost epoxy and polyurethane encapsulants in less demanding applications, and tightening chemical regulation, including the European Union restriction on the cyclic siloxanes D4, D5 and D6 and restrictions on certain organotin catalysts used in condensation-cure systems. Long automotive and power-module qualification cycles also slow the adoption of new grades.
Opportunities are concentrated in thermally conductive and lightweight potting for electric-vehicle battery packs, on-board chargers and traction inverters; high-temperature gels for SiC and GaN power modules; power conversion for solar, wind, battery storage and data-centre infrastructure; and localisation of electronics manufacturing in India, Southeast Asia and Mexico.
Future Outlook
Between 2025 and 2032 the market is expected to add USD 299.10 million, with Asia Pacific contributing USD 198.13 million of the increase. Product development is expected to focus on higher thermal conductivity at low viscosity, faster heat or room-temperature cure for high-throughput meter-mix dispensing, tin-free condensation chemistries, and grades formulated to meet low-cyclic-siloxane specifications. Suppliers able to combine global supply security with local application-engineering support in Asia Pacific and North America are positioned to capture the largest share of incremental demand.
The Silicone Potting Compound Market market is projected to grow at a CAGR of 4.2% from 2022 to 2032.

A silicone potting compound is a liquid, flowable formulation based on polyorganosiloxanes – predominantly polydimethylsiloxane with vinyl, hydride, hydroxyl or alkoxy functionality – that is poured or dispensed into a housing or around a printed circuit board assembly and then cured in place to form a solid elastomer or soft gel that fully encapsulates the components. Formulations are supplied as one-part or, more commonly, two-part systems and may contain reinforcing and thermally conductive fillers (such as alumina, aluminium hydroxide or boron nitride), flame retardants, pigments, adhesion promoters and catalysts. Cure proceeds either through platinum-catalysed hydrosilylation (addition cure) or through tin- or titanium-catalysed polycondensation that releases a small-molecule by-product (condensation cure).
The cured material provides environmental sealing, electrical insulation, shock and vibration damping, stress relief across wide temperature ranges and, in thermally conductive grades, a heat-dissipation path from components to the enclosure.
Included: silicone potting and encapsulating compounds and silicone gels used to encapsulate electronic and electrical assemblies – including power modules, inverters, converters, power supplies, automotive control units, sensors, battery management systems, LED drivers and LED modules, and other electronic devices – in both addition-cure and condensation-cure chemistries, across all viscosities, hardness levels and thermal-conductivity grades.
Excluded: epoxy, polyurethane, acrylic and other non-silicone potting resins; silicone conformal coatings applied as thin films; silicone adhesives, sealants and gap fillers that are not used for potting or encapsulation; thermal interface pads and greases; liquid silicone rubber used for injection moulding; and dispensing equipment and services.

The silicone potting compound market is moderately consolidated. The upstream part of the industry – silicon metal conversion, methylchlorosilane synthesis and siloxane polymerisation – is controlled by a small number of integrated producers with large monomer plants in China, Europe, the United States, Japan and South Korea. These companies also hold leading positions in formulated potting compounds and gels, and they benefit from cost advantages, security of supply and extensive reliability data. Downstream, the market is more fragmented: global adhesive companies, specialty silicone formulators and a large number of regional Chinese producers buy or produce polymers and compete on formulation, application engineering and service.
Competition is based primarily on technical performance – thermal conductivity, flame retardancy, viscosity and flow, cure profile, adhesion, dielectric strength and long-term stability at high temperature – and on the ability to support customers through lengthy qualification processes. Price competition is most intense in condensation-cure and general-purpose grades, especially in China, while high-reliability gels for power modules and thermally conductive potting for EV electronics carry higher margins. Since 2022, competitive activity has focused on EV and energy-storage applications, specialty capacity in Asia and Europe, and portfolio restructuring, including the transfer of Elkem's silicones business to Bluestar and the full acquisition of Momentive by KCC Corporation.
Key Player Positioning
Leaders: Dow, Wacker Chemie, Shin-Etsu Chemical, Momentive Performance Materials, Bluestar Silicones (formerly Elkem Silicones), Henkel. These companies combine broad portfolios of addition-cure and condensation-cure potting compounds and gels with global manufacturing and technical service, long qualification histories with automotive and power-module customers, and, for the integrated silicone producers, control of upstream siloxane supply. Henkel is included among the leaders because of its scale in electronics materials and its position with automotive and electronics manufacturers, although it relies on purchased silicone polymers.
Challengers: H.B. Fuller, Parker Hannifin (Parker LORD), Hubei Huitian New Materials. These companies have strong positions in specific regions or applications – such as Chinese electronics and photovoltaic potting, EV battery protection or power-electronics thermal management – and are expanding through capacity investment, acquisitions and new product launches, but have narrower silicone potting portfolios or regional footprints than the leaders.
Niche players: CHT Group, Element Solutions (MacDermid Alpha / Electrolube). These suppliers focus on specialised formulations, such as lightweight and thermally conductive potting, high-refractive-index gels, military-approved grades or electronics-specific encapsulation resins, and compete through technical service and customisation rather than scale.

Analytical insights on Silicone Potting Compound Market covering market dynamics, competitive landscape, and strategic outlook.
The Silicone Potting Compound Market market is projected to reach $1.40B by 2032, growing at 4.2% CAGR. The Addition Cure segment holds the largest share.
The silicone potting compound market is shaped by the interplay of structural electrification trends, semiconductor technology change, raw-material economics and chemical regulation. The market grows from USD 1,098.34 million in 2025 to USD 1,397.44 million in 2032, a CAGR of 3.38% over 2026–2032. This chapter sets out the macro and micro factors behind that trajectory and examines the principal drivers, restraints, opportunities, trends and challenges. The impact scores in the growth factor analysis are analyst assessments, on a scale of 1 to 10, of the strength of each factor's influence on market growth in each period, based on secondary research and primary interviews.
Electrification of Vehicles
Electric vehicles carry far more power electronics than combustion vehicles: traction inverters, on-board chargers, DC-DC converters, battery management systems and thermal-management controllers all require protection against moisture, vibration and thermal shock over a life of 15 years or more. The International Energy Agency's Global EV Outlook reports that electric-car sales exceeded 17 million units worldwide in 2024, more than one in five new cars sold, with China accounting for the majority. Silicone potting compounds and gels are specified in these systems because they remain flexible from roughly -50 °C to 200 °C, do not crack solder joints during thermal cycling, and maintain dielectric strength at the 400 V and 800 V architectures now entering volume production. Battery packs add a further, volume-intensive use: thermally conductive and low-density potting that fixes cells, spreads heat and slows thermal propagation. Policy support – EU CO2 fleet standards, China's new-energy-vehicle programme and U.S. manufacturing incentives – continues to underpin this demand, which is reflected in Automotive Electronics growing from USD 329.50 million in 2025 to USD 426.15 million in 2032.
Expansion of Renewable Energy, Storage and Power Conversion
Solar inverters, wind-turbine converters, battery energy storage systems, EV charging stations and industrial drives depend on high-power IGBT and SiC modules and on large power-supply assemblies that are encapsulated with silicone gels and potting compounds. Record additions of solar photovoltaic and battery storage capacity in China, the United States, Europe and India have expanded demand for this hardware, and grid modernisation programmes are adding converters and protection electronics. Data centres represent a newer source of demand: the growth of high-density computing for artificial intelligence is driving investment in power supplies, power distribution units and uninterruptible power systems that require reliable insulation and thermal management. Silicone gels are the standard encapsulant inside power modules because their low modulus protects fine wire bonds and their dielectric properties prevent partial discharge. These dynamics make Power Electronics the fastest-growing application, at a CAGR of 3.85% over 2026–2032.
Transition to Wide-Bandgap Power Semiconductors
Silicon carbide and gallium nitride devices switch faster and operate at higher junction temperatures and voltages than conventional silicon devices, allowing smaller and more efficient converters. They also raise the thermal and electrical stress on packaging materials: encapsulants must tolerate continuous operation at 175 °C to 200 °C, resist cracking and delamination during power cycling, and withstand higher field strengths without partial discharge. Addition-cure silicone gels and potting compounds, which cure without by-products and have very low ionic impurity levels, are the preferred solution, and suppliers have introduced high-temperature, low-ion grades for these modules. Government programmes such as the U.S. CHIPS and Science Act (2022) and the European Chips Act (2023) are supporting new power-semiconductor fabs and packaging lines, extending the base of qualified module production. This technology shift supports the faster growth of Addition Cure, at 3.81% compared with 2.72% for Condensation Cure.
Miniaturisation and Thermal Management in Electronics
Across consumer, industrial and telecommunications electronics, higher component density and power per unit volume are increasing the heat that must be removed from assemblies. Thermally conductive silicone potting compounds, filled to deliver conductivities typically between about 0.5 and 3 W/m·K while remaining pourable, allow designers to encapsulate and cool a board in one step. Applications include LED drivers, 5G radio and power units, power tools, smart meters, industrial sensors and motor controllers. At the same time, outdoor and harsh-environment electronics are proliferating in smart infrastructure, agriculture and transport, where ingress protection to IP67 or higher is often specified. These requirements favour silicones over rigid epoxies, which can impose stress on components during thermal cycling, and support stable demand across the LED & Others segment, which reaches USD 466.43 million in 2032.
Battery-Pack Potting and Thermal-Propagation Protection
Electric-vehicle and stationary-storage battery packs represent a large, volume-intensive opportunity for low-density, thermally conductive and flame-retardant silicone potting compounds that immobilise cells, transfer heat and delay thermal runaway propagation. Suppliers that can offer densities well below conventional filled systems, UL 94 V-0 performance and high-speed dispensing are well placed as cell-to-pack designs spread.
Manufacturing Localisation in India, Southeast Asia and Mexico
Electronics and EV supply chains are diversifying away from concentration in a single country. India's production-linked incentive schemes for electronics and automobiles, growth of electronics assembly in Vietnam, Thailand and Malaysia, and near-shoring of automotive electronics to Mexico are creating new demand centres. India is the fastest-growing country market, at a CAGR of 5.00%, and Mexico grows at 3.63%, the highest rate in North America.
High-Reliability Gels for Next-Generation Power Modules
As SiC modules move into traction inverters, renewable-energy converters and data-centre power supplies, demand is rising for silicone gels with higher temperature capability, lower ionic content, better adhesion to substrates and resistance to partial discharge. Grades that extend module life under power cycling command premium pricing and long-term supply agreements once qualified.
Raw-Material Cost Volatility and Supply Concentration
Silicone potting compounds are derived from silicon metal, which is converted with methyl chloride into methylchlorosilanes and then into siloxane polymers. Silicon metal and siloxane prices have shown marked volatility since 2021, driven by energy costs, power rationing and capacity cycles in China, which accounts for the majority of global silicon metal production and a growing share of siloxane capacity. Platinum, the catalyst for addition-cure systems, is also subject to price swings. Formulators and end users face margin pressure and supply-security concerns, and the cost premium of silicones over epoxy and polyurethane systems widens when raw-material prices spike.
Competition from Lower-Cost Encapsulants
Epoxy and polyurethane potting compounds are typically cheaper per kilogram and offer higher mechanical strength, chemical resistance or adhesion in some applications. In consumer electronics, low-voltage power supplies and other cost-sensitive uses where operating temperatures are moderate, these alternatives limit silicone penetration. Silicones also present processing constraints – addition-cure systems can be inhibited by sulfur, amine and tin compounds present on boards or housings, while condensation-cure systems require atmospheric moisture and can shrink as by-products evaporate – which can increase validation effort for new designs.
Tightening Chemical Regulation
Regulators are scrutinising substances associated with silicone production and formulation. The European Union has restricted the cyclic siloxanes D4, D5 and D6 under REACH (Commission Regulation (EU) 2024/1328), prohibiting their placing on the market in mixtures at 0.1% or more by weight from 6 June 2026, subject to derogations; residues from silicone polymers are permitted up to 1% each in mixtures used for adhesion, sealing, gluing and casting, which requires producers to verify and in some cases reduce residual cyclic content. Restrictions on certain organotin compounds under REACH Annex XVII affect tin catalysts traditionally used in condensation-cure systems. Compliance requires reformulation, testing and documentation, which adds cost and can delay product launches, particularly for smaller formulators.
Shift Toward Addition-Cure Systems
End users are moving from condensation-cure to addition-cure systems for deep-section, high-reliability and high-temperature applications because they produce no by-products, have negligible shrinkage and cure quickly with heat. Addition Cure's share of the global market increases from 60.00% in 2025 to 61.75% in 2032.
Thermally Conductive, Low-Density and Flame-Retardant Formulations
Product development is concentrated on combining higher thermal conductivity with low viscosity and low density, and on achieving UL 94 V-0 flame ratings without halogenated additives. These multi-functional grades allow a single material to protect, cool and fire-proof an assembly.
Process Automation and Faster Cure
Electronics manufacturers are adopting automated meter-mix-dispense lines and inline curing to raise throughput. This favours formulations with stable mix ratios (often 1:1), long pot life with rapid heat cure, and self-levelling rheology that fills complex geometries without voids.
Regulatory Compliance and Sustainability as a Challenge
Suppliers must document low residual cyclic siloxanes, develop tin-free condensation catalysts, and respond to customer requests for product carbon footprints and recyclability or reworkability. Meeting these requirements while preserving performance and cost is a continuing challenge, especially for smaller regional formulators.
The silicone potting compound value chain runs from silicon metal production through siloxane chemistry and formulation to the electronics manufacturers that apply the material.
Raw materials and inputs: quartz is reduced to silicon metal in electric-arc furnaces; methanol and hydrogen chloride are used to produce methyl chloride. Other inputs include platinum and tin or titanium catalysts, fillers such as alumina, aluminium hydroxide, silica and boron nitride, flame retardants, adhesion promoters and pigments.
Monomer and polymer production: integrated silicone producers react silicon with methyl chloride (the direct, or Müller-Rochow, process) to produce methylchlorosilanes, which are hydrolysed into siloxanes and polymerised into vinyl-, hydride-, hydroxyl- and alkoxy-functional polydimethylsiloxanes. This capital-intensive stage is concentrated among a small number of global producers.
Formulation and manufacturing: polymers are compounded with fillers, crosslinkers, catalysts and additives into one-part or two-part potting compounds and gels. Formulation know-how – balancing viscosity, thermal conductivity, flame retardancy, cure profile and adhesion – is the main source of differentiation. Both integrated producers and independent formulators operate at this stage.
Distribution and channels: large accounts such as automotive Tier-1 suppliers and power-module manufacturers are served directly with technical support and long-term supply agreements; smaller manufacturers and maintenance users buy through specialist electronic-materials distributors. Equipment suppliers for meter-mix-dispense systems are important partners in qualification.
End users: manufacturers of power modules, inverters, converters and power supplies; automotive electronics and battery-pack makers; LED driver and lighting manufacturers; and producers of sensors, industrial controls, telecommunications and other electronic equipment.
Silicone potting compounds are regulated principally as chemical mixtures, while the electronic products in which they are used are subject to hazardous-substance, safety and end-of-life rules. The key frameworks by region are summarised below.
The most consequential recent change for the market is the EU restriction on D4, D5 and D6 under Commission Regulation (EU) 2024/1328 of 16 May 2024. From 6 June 2026, these substances may not be placed on the market in mixtures at concentrations of 0.1% or more by weight each, although industrial uses and their presence as constituents of silicone polymers are exempt, and mixtures used for adhesion, sealing, gluing and casting may contain up to 1% of each as residues from silicone polymers. Suppliers must therefore measure and document residual cyclic content in potting formulations sold in the EU. In the United States, the EPA is conducting a TSCA risk evaluation of D4, and Canada lists D4 as toxic under CEPA. Electronic potting compounds must also enable the finished equipment to comply with RoHS limits on lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, PBB, PBDE and certain phthalates.

DuPont de Nemours today is a focused, roughly USD 7 bn-revenue multi-industry company. It is no longer the diversified chemical conglomerate of its heritage. After a decade of portfolio surgery, the company consists of two segments: **Healthcare & Water Technologies (about 47% of FY2025 sales):** Tyvek® medical packaging and protective garments, specialty medical device components (Spectrum, Donatelle), and the FilmTec™ / Amberlite™ water purification franchise. **Diversified Industrials (about 53%):** Building envelope products (Tyvek® house wrap, Styrofoam™, Corian®) and engineered industrial technologies (Molykote®, Vespel®, Betaseal™/Betaforce™ adhesives, Cyrel® printing plates). The company earns a premium-specialty margin profile: operating EBITDA margin was 23.8% in FY2025, with guidance of about 24.5% for FY2026. Management targets 3–4% organic growth, 150–200 bps of margin expansion and 8–10% adjusted EPS CAGR through 2028, supported by a lightly levered BBB+/Baa1 balance sheet. The principal overhang is legacy PFAS liability, shared with Chemours, Corteva and Qnity under contractual arrangements. The principal opportunity is a cleaner, higher-growth healthcare/water mix and capital redeployment. --- **Company's own description (FY2025 10-K, Item 1).** DuPont describes itself as a leading provider of advanced solutions that improve everyday life across healthcare, water, construction and industrial markets. It emphasizes helping customers advance their technology pipelines, from clean water to medical packaging that enhances safety and performance. It names its competitive strengths as: - proprietary product and process technologies; - robust application-development pipelines; - well-known brands; - customer intimacy; - global manufacturing and local service capability. **Independent characterization.** DuPont is now best understood as a specialty engineered-materials and components company with four businesses of roughly comparable scale: **Business model and revenue model.** - Revenue is overwhelmingly product sales: materials, components, membranes, resins, garments and plates. Some engineered systems and modules are sold in Water. - There is no material subscription or licensing revenue. Trade secrets may be licensed occasionally (10-K, Intellectual Property). - The contract manufacturing and design services of Spectrum and Donatelle (medical devices) add a design-in / build-to-print services element, but are recognized as product revenue. - Seasonality: North American Building Technologies demand peaks in Q2–Q3. **Value-chain position.** DuPont sits mid-stream as a Tier-1/Tier-2 supplier. It converts purchased raw materials (polyolefins, specialty monomers, resins, silicones, polymers) into engineered materials, membranes and components. These are specified into customers' finished products: medical devices, sterile packaging, water plants, building envelopes, aircraft, vehicles and print packaging. **Customer types.** - Medical device OEMs and sterile packaging converters - Biopharma manufacturers - Industrial end users and EPC/OEM water-system integrators - Municipalities and desalination operators (via integrators) - Builders, contractors and distributors (e.g., Corian® distribution through Hallmark and Parksite) - Automotive and EV OEMs and Tier-1s - Aerospace OEMs - Printing and packaging converters Most products are sold through DuPont's own sales organization, with distributors used for some lines (10-K, Distribution). **End markets.** Healthcare (medical devices, packaging, biopharma, PPE), water (industrial, municipal/desalination, life sciences, microelectronics UPW), construction (residential, non-residential, repair/remodel) and industrial (aerospace, automotive/EV, printing and packaging, general industrial).
Nippon Soda is a mid-cap, diversified Japanese chemical group founded in 1920 as a chlor-alkali producer and progressively re-shaped into a portfolio anchored by two high-value franchises: research-based crop protection (Agri Business, 35% of FY3/26 sales) and specialty "Chemical Materials" (25%), complemented by lower-margin but stable trading/logistics, plant engineering and environmental-recycling businesses. Its crown jewels are niche, high-barrier products in which it holds globally relevant positions — the pharmaceutical excipient NISSO HPC (hydroxypropyl cellulose), liquid polybutadiene NISSO-PB for AI-server copper-clad laminates, KrF photoresist polymer VP-POLYMER, and proprietary agrochemicals such as Mospilan (acetamiprid) and Topsin-M. With FY3/26 net sales of JPY 152.1 billion, record net profit of JPY 18.3 billion, an equity ratio of ~66.6%, and a 50%+ total shareholder return policy, the company is a conservatively financed, R&D-led specialty player now pivoting toward healthcare (including animal health) and advanced ICT materials under its Stage III plan to FY3/30. --- ### Company's own description According to its Stage III medium-term plan (May 2026), Nippon Soda describes its mission as creating new value through the power of chemistry, and frames the group as supporting everyday life through chemical products and services across four "material" fields: Agriculture (securing food and sustainable agriculture), Healthcare (healthy life for all people), Environment (toward a resource-recycling society) and ICT (chemical functions for IT devices). The Yuho describes the parent's business as manufacturing, processing and marketing of industrial chemicals, synthetic resins and plastics, dyes, pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, veterinary pharmaceuticals and other chemical products. ### Business model and revenue model Nippon Soda's revenue is overwhelmingly product-based (manufactured chemical sales), with secondary service revenues from logistics (warehousing, transport, customs brokerage), engineering/EPC contracts and waste treatment. There is no material subscription revenue. Licensing/active-ingredient supply is embedded in Agri Business: the company supplies proprietary active ingredients (AIs) to global majors and sells formulated products through its own overseas network and partners. The revenue mix by nature (approximation from FY3/26 segment data; company does not disclose a product/service split): *Note: the above split is an analytical characterization; the company does not report revenue by nature.* ### Value-chain position **Agri Business:** fully integrated R&D-type agrochemical originator — chemical synthesis, biological/safety research, formulation research, field evaluation, AI manufacturing (including via Nisso Namhae Agro in Korea) and formulation, registration and global marketing (Stage III plan). The company emphasizes that R&D-type agrochemical originators are largely limited to five overseas majors plus Japanese firms, and that Japanese originators punch above their weight in new AI discovery. **Chemical Materials:** upstream chlor-alkali (caustic soda, chlorine, hydrochloric acid) feeding downstream fine/specialty chemistry (living anionic polymerization for NISSO-PB and VP-POLYMER; cellulose derivatization for HPC; penem API synthesis). **Trading & Logistics:** captive and third-party distribution (Nisso Shoji) and specialized hazardous/pharma logistics (Sanwa Soko, Sanso Unyu). **Engineering:** fine-chemical-type EPC (Nisso Engineering) and civil works (Nisso Kensetsu). **Eco Solutions:** waste treatment, zinc recovery from electric-arc-furnace dust, sulfuric acid recycling (Nisso Metallochemical). ### Customer types and end-markets Customers include global agrochemical majors and distributors, farmers' cooperatives (via channels), generic and innovator pharmaceutical companies and supplement makers (HPC, SSF, faropenem API), copper-clad-laminate (CCL) and semiconductor-materials producers (NISSO-PB, 1,2-SBS, VP-POLYMER), thermal-paper manufacturers (color developers), battery-materials producers, industrial users of commodity chemicals, steelmakers (EAF dust treatment), and public/private construction clients (Engineering). End-markets: crop protection (fruit & vegetables first, expanding to grains), pharmaceuticals/nutraceuticals, semiconductors/electronics (AI servers, HBM, automotive chips), infrastructure, and environmental services. ### Independent characterization Nippon Soda is best understood as two engines and three stabilizers. The engines — Agri Business and specialty Chemical Materials — generated roughly 75% of FY3/26 segment operating profit (JPY 11.2 billion of JPY 14.97 billion before adjustments) on 60% of sales. Agri is cyclical and FX-sensitive (65.7% overseas sales ratio in FY3/26), while Chemical Materials has been structurally re-rated from a ~5–6% margin business to ~15–17% after exiting commodity lines (metallic sodium via Alkaline S.A.S., NISSO HI-CHLON, phenol-based color developers, sodium cyanide). The stabilizers (Trading & Logistics, Engineering, Eco Solutions) are low-growth and modest-margin but add scale and cash. A further, often-overlooked profit pillar is equity-method income (JPY 6.06 billion in FY3/26, chiefly Iharabras in Brazil), which made ordinary profit (JPY 22.99 billion) much larger than operating profit and is highly FX-sensitive (BRL/USD).
