Market Overview
The Global Monocalcium Phosphate Market was valued at USD 384.86 Million in 2025 and is projected to reach USD 501.41 Million by 2032, registering a CAGR of 3.85% over 2026–2032. The market has expanded steadily from USD 343.51 Million in 2022, and is expected to add USD 116.55 Million in absolute value between 2025 and 2032. Monocalcium phosphate (MCP) is the most water-soluble and most digestible of the inorganic feed phosphates, and its demand is tied directly to compound feed output for poultry, swine and aquaculture. Growth over the forecast period is underpinned by rising global consumption of poultry meat, the continued expansion of aquaculture, and the gradual replacement of lower-digestibility dicalcium phosphate (DCP) with MCP in precision-formulated diets.
At the same time, the market operates under structural constraints. MCP is manufactured from purified wet-process phosphoric acid, and its cost base is exposed to movements in phosphate rock, sulphur and sulphuric acid prices. Wider use of microbial phytase enzymes, which release phytate-bound phosphorus already present in plant ingredients, limits growth in inorganic phosphate inclusion rates, particularly in mature markets. As a result, the market is forecast to grow at a moderate, volume-led pace rather than at the rates seen in specialty feed additives.
Key Findings
By livestock, Poultry was the largest segment in 2025 at USD 211.67 Million (55.00% share), while Aquaculture & Others is the fastest-growing segment with a CAGR of 5.13% over 2026–2032.
By physical form, Granular MCP led the market in 2025 with USD 250.16 Million (65.00% share) and is also the faster-growing form, at a CAGR of 4.23%, compared with 3.11% for Powder.
Asia Pacific was the leading region in 2025 with USD 173.19 Million (45.00% share). Middle East & Africa is the fastest-growing region, with a CAGR of 4.41%.
China was the leading country market in 2025 at USD 77.93 Million, equal to 20.25% of the global market, while India is the fastest-growing country with a CAGR of 6.61%.
Asia Pacific alone is expected to contribute USD 59.02 Million of incremental revenue between 2025 and 2032, more than any other region.
Segmentation Summary
The market is segmented by livestock (Poultry, Swine, and Aquaculture & Others), by physical form (Granular and Powder) and by region (North America, Europe, Asia Pacific, Latin America, and Middle East & Africa), with country-level data for each region. Poultry accounts for more than half of global demand, reflecting the scale of broiler and layer production and the high phosphorus requirement of fast-growing birds. Swine held USD 115.46 Million in 2025 and is the slowest-growing livestock segment at a CAGR of 2.80%, as pig production matures in Europe and North America and phytase use is widespread. Aquaculture & Others, valued at USD 57.73 Million in 2025, benefits from the strong solubility of MCP in aquafeed. Granular MCP holds close to two-thirds of the market because of its flowability, low dust and suitability for automated feed mills, while Powder, valued at USD 134.70 Million in 2025, remains important for premixes and mash feeds.
Competitive Landscape Summary
The market is moderately consolidated at the top and fragmented below it. Large, vertically integrated phosphate producers with captive phosphate rock and phosphoric acid, such as The Mosaic Company, OCP Group (through GlobalFeed), PhosAgro and Yara International, compete alongside specialist feed phosphate producers such as Phosphea (Groupe Roullier) and a group of large Chinese producers including Guizhou Chanhen Chemical, Yunnan Yuntianhua and Sichuan Development Lomon. Recent activity has centred on capacity additions, downstream integration into animal nutrition and portfolio restructuring, including OCP's step-up to a 75% stake in GlobalFeed in February 2025, Sichuan Development Lomon's acquisition of 60% of Tianbao Animal Nutrition in June 2025 and Nutrien's strategic review of its phosphate business announced in November 2025.
Challenges and Opportunities
The principal challenges are raw material cost volatility, export restrictions on Chinese phosphate products, trade frictions affecting Russian-origin supply, increasingly strict limits on fluorine, cadmium and other undesirable substances in feed, and the substitution effect of phytase enzymes. The principal opportunities lie in aquafeed, in the conversion of DCP-based diets to higher-digestibility MCP in emerging markets, in low-heavy-metal and specialty grades that command a premium, and in the rapid growth of commercial poultry production in South Asia, Southeast Asia, Latin America and the Middle East.
Future Outlook
The market is expected to grow every year of the forecast period, rising from USD 399.70 Million in 2026 to USD 501.41 Million in 2032. Demand growth will shift further toward Asia Pacific, Latin America and Middle East & Africa, where poultry and aquaculture output is expanding fastest, while North America (CAGR 3.15%) and Europe (CAGR 2.81%) grow more slowly. Producers with secure access to phosphate rock and purified acid, consistent product quality and established distribution into integrated feed producers are best placed to capture this growth.
The Monocalcium Phosphate Market market is projected to grow at a CAGR of 3.9% from 2022 to 2032.

Monocalcium phosphate (MCP), chemically calcium dihydrogen phosphate, is an inorganic calcium phosphate with the formula Ca(H2PO4)2, supplied commercially for animal feed mainly as the monohydrate Ca(H2PO4)2·H2O. Feed-grade MCP is produced by reacting purified, defluorinated wet-process phosphoric acid with a calcium source such as limestone (calcium carbonate) or lime, followed by granulation or milling, drying and screening. Typical feed-grade products contain about 21–23% total phosphorus together with calcium, and they are characterised by high water solubility and high digestible phosphorus content compared with dicalcium phosphate (DCP) and tricalcium phosphate. MCP is used in compound feeds, premixes and mineral feeds to meet the phosphorus and calcium requirements of animals for skeletal development, energy metabolism and growth performance.
For the purpose of this study, the market includes feed-grade monocalcium phosphate in granular and powder form sold for use in poultry, swine, aquaculture and other livestock feed. It covers the value of MCP sold by producers to compound feed manufacturers, integrated livestock producers, premix and mineral feed manufacturers, and distributors. The study excludes food-grade MCP used as a leavening acid in bakery products, fertilizer-grade calcium phosphates such as single and triple superphosphate, and other feed phosphates such as DCP, tricalcium phosphate, monodicalcium phosphate (MDCP), monosodium phosphate and magnesium phosphates, when these are sold as separate products.

View Subscription PlansOverview of the Research Process
The study was carried out in four stages. The first stage defined the market, its boundaries and its segmentation. The second stage gathered information through secondary research on livestock production, compound feed output, feed phosphate capacity, trade and prices. The third stage validated and refined the findings through primary research with participants across the value chain. The final stage estimated the market size for the historic and base years, built the forecast, and checked the results through data triangulation so that the global, regional, country and segment figures are internally consistent.
Secondary Research
Secondary research drew on sources specific to the phosphate and animal feed industries, including:
Industry associations, including feed manufacturers' associations, the inorganic feed phosphates sector group of the European Chemical Industry Council (Cefic), and national poultry, pork and aquaculture producer bodies.
Government and intergovernmental bodies, including the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and national agriculture ministries.
Regulatory texts and standards, including EU feed legislation, U.S. federal feed regulations, Chinese national feed standards and the Bureau of Indian Standards.
Company filings, annual reports, investor presentations, stock exchange disclosures and product specifications of feed phosphate producers.
Trade journals and industry publications covering fertilizers, phosphates, feed and animal nutrition.
Paid databases covering international trade flows, commodity prices and company financials.
Primary Research
Primary research was used to validate secondary findings, fill information gaps and obtain qualitative insight into demand patterns, pricing and competition. Discussions were held with participants on both the supply and demand sides of the market.
Supply side: production, sales and marketing managers at phosphoric acid and feed phosphate producers, distributors and traders of feed minerals, and technical specialists in feed phosphate manufacturing.
Demand side: nutritionists and procurement managers at compound feed manufacturers, premix and mineral feed producers, integrated poultry and swine producers, and aquafeed manufacturers.
Objectives: to confirm market size and segment splits, understand the factors driving the choice between MCP, MDCP and DCP and between granular and powder forms, assess the effect of phytase use and price changes on inclusion rates, and identify recent and planned capacity changes.
Market Size Estimation
Both top-down and bottom-up approaches were used. In the top-down approach, global feed phosphate consumption was estimated from compound feed production by species and typical inorganic phosphorus inclusion rates, and the share of MCP within total feed phosphates was then applied, followed by average selling prices. In the bottom-up approach, production and sales of feed-grade MCP by leading producers and country-level consumption estimates were aggregated to regional and global totals. The two results were compared and reconciled through data triangulation, using trade data, price data and primary research inputs to resolve differences, so that segment, country, regional and global values add up consistently.
Forecasting Methodology
The forecast was built at the country and segment level and then aggregated. The main factors considered were projected growth in poultry, pork and aquaculture output, expected compound feed production, trends in phosphorus inclusion rates including the effect of phytase, the substitution of DCP with MCP, phosphate rock and sulphur price outlooks, capacity additions announced by producers, trade policy and regulatory changes. Each factor was assessed for its direction and strength of impact over the short, medium and long term, and the forecast was reviewed against industry expert opinion.
Assumptions and Limitations
Market values are expressed in nominal U.S. dollars; local-currency values were converted at average annual exchange rates, and future exchange rates are assumed to remain broadly stable.
The forecast assumes no major, prolonged disruption to global phosphate rock or phosphoric acid supply beyond the conditions observed up to the base year.
Animal disease outbreaks such as African swine fever and highly pathogenic avian influenza are assumed to continue at a manageable level, without causing a lasting contraction in regional livestock herds.
Phytase adoption is assumed to continue to rise gradually, moderating but not reversing growth in inorganic phosphate demand.
Producer-level data are not always disclosed separately for MCP, because many companies report feed phosphates together with other phosphate products; estimates were used where necessary.
Market values reflect the value of feed-grade MCP at the producer level and exclude the value added by feed mills or premix manufacturers.

The global monocalcium phosphate market is moderately consolidated at the top and fragmented below it. A limited number of large, vertically integrated phosphate producers, which control phosphate rock, sulphuric acid and purified phosphoric acid, supply a large share of internationally traded feed-grade MCP. They compete with specialist feed phosphate producers that buy or produce acid and focus on product quality and technical service, and with a large number of Chinese producers of varying size that supply both the domestic market and export markets.
Competition is based mainly on price, consistency of phosphorus content and solubility, contaminant levels, particle size and dust, reliability of supply and logistics. Because standard grades are relatively undifferentiated, cost position, which depends largely on access to low-cost phosphate rock and acid, is decisive. Leading producers seek to differentiate through low-contaminant products, specialised grades for aquafeed and young animals, technical support for feed formulators and certification under feed safety schemes. Since 2022, competitive activity has focused on capacity additions, downstream integration by phosphate majors, consolidation in China and portfolio restructuring by North American producers.
Key Player Positioning

Competitor Dashboard
The dashboard below provides a qualitative comparison of the profiled companies across four parameters, rated Low, Medium, High or Very High.
Bargaining Power of Suppliers: High
Phosphate rock reserves and production are concentrated in a small number of countries, led by Morocco, China, the United States and Russia.
Non-integrated MCP producers depend on purchased phosphoric acid and sulphur, whose prices are set by the much larger fertilizer market.
Export restrictions in key supplier countries further increase supplier leverage.
Bargaining Power of Buyers: Medium
Large integrators and multinational feed producers buy in high volumes under annual contracts and can switch between suppliers and between MCP, MDCP and DCP.
Smaller feed mills in fragmented markets have limited bargaining power and rely on distributors.
Quality, consistency and certification requirements limit how easily buyers can switch to lower-cost suppliers.
Threat of New Entrants: Low
Entry requires access to phosphate rock or purified phosphoric acid, high capital investment and technical know-how in defluorination and purification.
Feed safety registration, certification and contaminant limits add regulatory barriers.
Established producers benefit from economies of scale and long-standing customer relationships.
Threat of Substitutes: Medium
DCP, MDCP and tricalcium phosphate can partly replace MCP, especially when price differences widen.
Phytase enzymes reduce the need for inorganic phosphorus in poultry and swine diets.
Animal by-products such as meat and bone meal can supply phosphorus in some regions, although their use is restricted in several markets.
Competitive Rivalry: High
Standard MCP grades are relatively undifferentiated, so competition is largely based on price, quality consistency and logistics.
Large Chinese and other export-oriented producers compete actively in international markets.
Capacity additions by integrated producers intensify competition for major feed customers.
Bargaining Power of Suppliers: High.
Bargaining Power of Buyers: Medium.
Threat of New Entrants: Low.
Threat of Substitutes: Medium.
Competitive Rivalry: High.

Analytical insights on Monocalcium Phosphate Market covering market dynamics, competitive landscape, and strategic outlook.
The Monocalcium Phosphate Market market is projected to reach $501.41M by 2032, growing at 3.9% CAGR. The Poultry segment holds the largest share.
Demand for monocalcium phosphate is derived from livestock production and the compound feed industry, while supply depends on the availability and cost of phosphate rock, sulphur and purified phosphoric acid. This chapter assesses the factors that influence the market over the forecast period. Section 4.2 rates five macro and five micro factors by impact type and impact score for 2026–2027, 2028–2030 and 2031–2032. The impact scores are analyst assessments on a scale of 1 to 10, where 10 indicates the strongest influence on the market in that period, and they are based on secondary research and industry discussions.
Rising Global Poultry Production
Poultry is the largest and one of the fastest-growing consumers of monocalcium phosphate. Broiler meat is the lowest-cost and most widely accepted animal protein across cultures and religions, and its production continues to expand in almost every major market. The USDA Foreign Agricultural Service estimates global broiler meat production at 108.4 million tonnes in 2025 and 112.4 million tonnes in 2026, with a further increase forecast for 2027 as nearly all major producers expand output. Fast-growing broilers and high-yielding layers have high requirements for available phosphorus to support bone mineralisation, eggshell formation and feed efficiency, and phosphorus deficiency results in leg disorders and performance losses that integrators cannot afford. Because poultry diets are largely based on maize and soybean meal, in which much of the phosphorus is bound in phytate, inorganic phosphates remain essential even where phytase is used. The growth of large, vertically integrated poultry companies in Brazil, the United States, China, India, Southeast Asia and the Middle East is also increasing the share of production fed with professionally formulated compound feed, which is where MCP is used.
Expansion of Aquaculture and Aquafeed
Aquaculture has become the leading source of aquatic animal production. According to the FAO's State of World Fisheries and Aquaculture 2024, aquaculture produced 94.4 million tonnes of aquatic animals in 2022, accounting for 51% of total aquatic animal production and surpassing capture fisheries for the first time. Farmed fish and shrimp require phosphorus from the diet, and the low digestibility of phosphorus in plant-based aquafeed ingredients, combined with the move away from fishmeal, increases the need for highly available inorganic phosphorus. MCP is the preferred phosphate source in aquafeed because its high water solubility translates into high availability for fish, and producers offer dedicated fine-granule aquaculture grades. Rapid growth in shrimp farming in India, Vietnam and Ecuador, in tilapia and pangasius farming in Asia and Latin America, and in salmon farming in Norway and Chile supports above-average growth for the Aquaculture & Others segment over the forecast period.
Shift from DCP to Higher-Digestibility MCP
Feed formulators increasingly specify phosphates on the basis of digestible rather than total phosphorus. MCP provides a higher proportion of digestible phosphorus than DCP, which allows a lower inclusion rate for the same nutritional effect, frees space in the diet for other ingredients and reduces phosphorus excretion in manure. In regions with environmental rules on manure phosphorus, such as parts of the European Union, this is an important consideration. In emerging markets, where DCP has historically been the default feed phosphate because of its lower price per tonne, the growth of professional nutrition services and integrated producers is encouraging the use of MCP and MDCP. As feed producers adopt least-cost formulation software that values phosphates by their digestible phosphorus, MCP is gaining share within the total feed phosphate market.
Industrialisation of Livestock Production in Emerging Economies
Rising incomes and urbanisation in Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa are moving livestock production from backyard systems to commercial farms that rely on compound feed. Governments in several of these markets support domestic poultry, egg and aquaculture production as part of food security strategies, which encourages investment in feed mills and integrated operations. This transition raises the use of mineral feed ingredients, including MCP, because commercial producers formulate diets to precise nutrient specifications. The effect is visible in the forecast, in which Middle East & Africa, Asia Pacific and Latin America all grow faster than North America and Europe, and in which India records the highest country-level growth rate.
Specialty Aquafeed and Young-Animal Grades
Fine-granule MCP grades designed for aquafeed, and highly soluble grades for piglet and starter diets, command higher prices than standard products. Producers that can supply consistent particle size, low dust and high solubility can capture value in the fastest-growing part of the market.
Low-Contaminant and Traceable Products
Feed safety regulations set maximum levels for fluorine, arsenic, lead and cadmium in feed phosphates, and large feed and food companies increasingly audit their supply chains. Producers using low-cadmium igneous phosphate rock or advanced purification can market premium, certified products, as Yara does with its Bolifor range sourced from Finnish igneous rock.
Conversion of Emerging-Market Feed Formulations to MCP
In South Asia, Southeast Asia, Africa and parts of Latin America, a large share of feed phosphate demand is still met with DCP. As integrators and feed mills adopt digestible-phosphorus formulation, there is a sizeable opportunity to convert this demand to MCP, particularly in poultry and aquafeed. Technical service and local distribution partnerships are central to capturing it.
Volatility in Phosphate Rock, Sulphur and Phosphoric Acid Costs
MCP production depends on phosphate rock, sulphuric acid (made from sulphur) and calcium carbonate, and purified phosphoric acid accounts for the largest share of production cost. Prices of these inputs are linked to the much larger phosphate fertilizer market. The World Bank reported that sulphur prices doubled between January and May 2026, and its April 2026 Commodity Markets Outlook forecast phosphate rock prices to rise from USD 153 per tonne in 2025 to USD 160 per tonne in 2026. Feed producers often struggle to pass such increases on in full, which can lead them to reduce inclusion rates, switch to cheaper phosphate sources or increase phytase dosing.
Phytase Adoption Reducing Inorganic Phosphate Requirements
Microbial phytase enzymes release phosphorus bound in phytate in cereals and oilseed meals, allowing nutritionists to reduce the amount of inorganic phosphate in the diet. Phytase is now widely used in poultry and swine feed, and higher-dose phytase strategies further reduce inorganic phosphate inclusion. This limits volume growth in mature markets and explains why the Swine segment and the North American and European markets are forecast to grow more slowly than the global average.
Trade Restrictions and Supply Concentration
China, a major producer and exporter of phosphate products, has restricted exports of phosphate fertilizers to prioritise domestic supply, and new curbs on DAP, MAP and some NPK exports were applied from March 2026. Although these measures target fertilizers, they affect phosphoric acid availability and price across the phosphate industry. Sanctions and trade measures involving Russian-origin products also complicate supply in some markets, which adds to cost and supply-planning uncertainty for feed producers.
Downstream Integration by Phosphate Majors
Phosphate rock and fertilizer producers are moving downstream into animal nutrition to capture more value from their resources. OCP Group's acquisition of 50% of GlobalFeed in May 2023 and its increase to 75% in February 2025, together with its plan to expand GlobalFeed capacity to 400,000 tonnes per year by 2027, is a clear example of this trend.
Consolidation of the Chinese Feed Phosphate Industry
Chinese producers are consolidating to secure phosphate rock and improve scale. Sichuan Development Lomon completed its acquisition of 60% of Tianbao Animal Nutrition Technology in June 2025, and integrated producers such as Guizhou Chanhen Chemical continue to expand mine capacity and exports of feed-grade MCP.
Sustainability and Phosphorus Efficiency
Regulators and food companies are focusing on phosphorus losses to water and on the environmental footprint of feed. This favours highly digestible phosphates and precise formulation, but it also pushes producers to manage phosphogypsum and emissions at their phosphoric acid plants, as illustrated by the July 2023 consent decree covering J.R. Simplot's Don Plant in Idaho.
Price Competition from Lower-Cost Exporters
Large Chinese and other exporters compete actively on price in international markets, which places pressure on margins of producers with higher cost bases. Competition is most intense for standard grades, where product differentiation is limited.

Political
Export restrictions on phosphate products, particularly by China, influence global supply and prices.
Sanctions and trade measures involving Russian-origin products affect trade flows into some markets.
Food security programmes in the Middle East, Asia and Africa support domestic poultry and aquaculture expansion.
Economic
MCP prices follow phosphate rock, sulphur and phosphoric acid prices set by the fertilizer market.
Feed cost pressures lead nutritionists to optimise phosphate inclusion and balance MCP against DCP and phytase.
Rising incomes in emerging markets increase meat, egg and fish consumption.
Social
Poultry is favoured as an affordable protein that faces few religious or cultural restrictions.
Consumer concern about food safety increases demand for traceable, low-contaminant feed ingredients.
Urbanisation shifts diets toward animal protein and supports commercial livestock production.
Technological
Advances in defluorination and acid purification enable lower-contaminant products.
Granulation technology improves flowability and reduces dust, supporting the shift to granular MCP.
Improved phytase products and digestible-phosphorus formulation systems change how phosphates are valued.
Environmental
Regulations on manure phosphorus and nutrient run-off encourage highly digestible phosphates and lower total phosphorus inclusion.
Phosphogypsum management and emissions at phosphoric acid plants are subject to increasing scrutiny.
Phosphate rock is a finite resource, which supports interest in efficient use and recovery of phosphorus.
Legal
Feed laws set maximum limits for fluorine, cadmium, arsenic and lead in feed phosphates.
Registration and licensing requirements for feed materials and additives differ by country and add compliance cost.
Feed safety rules such as FSMA in the United States and feed hygiene rules in the EU require documented preventive controls.

DuPont de Nemours today is a focused, roughly USD 7 bn-revenue multi-industry company. It is no longer the diversified chemical conglomerate of its heritage. After a decade of portfolio surgery, the company consists of two segments: **Healthcare & Water Technologies (about 47% of FY2025 sales):** Tyvek® medical packaging and protective garments, specialty medical device components (Spectrum, Donatelle), and the FilmTec™ / Amberlite™ water purification franchise. **Diversified Industrials (about 53%):** Building envelope products (Tyvek® house wrap, Styrofoam™, Corian®) and engineered industrial technologies (Molykote®, Vespel®, Betaseal™/Betaforce™ adhesives, Cyrel® printing plates). The company earns a premium-specialty margin profile: operating EBITDA margin was 23.8% in FY2025, with guidance of about 24.5% for FY2026. Management targets 3–4% organic growth, 150–200 bps of margin expansion and 8–10% adjusted EPS CAGR through 2028, supported by a lightly levered BBB+/Baa1 balance sheet. The principal overhang is legacy PFAS liability, shared with Chemours, Corteva and Qnity under contractual arrangements. The principal opportunity is a cleaner, higher-growth healthcare/water mix and capital redeployment. --- **Company's own description (FY2025 10-K, Item 1).** DuPont describes itself as a leading provider of advanced solutions that improve everyday life across healthcare, water, construction and industrial markets. It emphasizes helping customers advance their technology pipelines, from clean water to medical packaging that enhances safety and performance. It names its competitive strengths as: - proprietary product and process technologies; - robust application-development pipelines; - well-known brands; - customer intimacy; - global manufacturing and local service capability. **Independent characterization.** DuPont is now best understood as a specialty engineered-materials and components company with four businesses of roughly comparable scale: **Business model and revenue model.** - Revenue is overwhelmingly product sales: materials, components, membranes, resins, garments and plates. Some engineered systems and modules are sold in Water. - There is no material subscription or licensing revenue. Trade secrets may be licensed occasionally (10-K, Intellectual Property). - The contract manufacturing and design services of Spectrum and Donatelle (medical devices) add a design-in / build-to-print services element, but are recognized as product revenue. - Seasonality: North American Building Technologies demand peaks in Q2–Q3. **Value-chain position.** DuPont sits mid-stream as a Tier-1/Tier-2 supplier. It converts purchased raw materials (polyolefins, specialty monomers, resins, silicones, polymers) into engineered materials, membranes and components. These are specified into customers' finished products: medical devices, sterile packaging, water plants, building envelopes, aircraft, vehicles and print packaging. **Customer types.** - Medical device OEMs and sterile packaging converters - Biopharma manufacturers - Industrial end users and EPC/OEM water-system integrators - Municipalities and desalination operators (via integrators) - Builders, contractors and distributors (e.g., Corian® distribution through Hallmark and Parksite) - Automotive and EV OEMs and Tier-1s - Aerospace OEMs - Printing and packaging converters Most products are sold through DuPont's own sales organization, with distributors used for some lines (10-K, Distribution). **End markets.** Healthcare (medical devices, packaging, biopharma, PPE), water (industrial, municipal/desalination, life sciences, microelectronics UPW), construction (residential, non-residential, repair/remodel) and industrial (aerospace, automotive/EV, printing and packaging, general industrial).
